This section applies to XenMobile Cloud and XenMobile on-premises deployments.
An important point to consider for any deployment is which device you plan to roll out. With iOS, Android, and Windows, the options are numerous. For the full list, as well as a list of some of the devices on which XenMobile is tested, see Supported Device Platforms in XenMobile in the XenMobile documentation.
With a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) environment, a mixture of any of the supported platforms is possible, but keep the limitations in the Supported Device Platforms in XenMobile article in mind when informing users with which devices they can enroll. Even if you only allow one or two devices in your environment, XenMobile will function slightly differently on iOS, Android, and Windows devices, by offering different feature sets for each platform type. Also, be aware that not all app designs target both tablet and phone form factors. Before you make any widespread changes, test the apps you want to use to ensure that they fit the screen of the device you want to roll out.
There are a few enrollment considerations as well. Apple and Google both offer enterprise enrollment programs. Through the Apple Device Enrollment Program (DEP) and Google Android for Work, you can purchase devices that are pre-configured and ready for employees to use. Even if you don't use these programs, there are other things to think about. If you want to send invitation links to your users through SMS, you cannot with tablets. For more information on enrollment, see User Enrollment Options in this virtual handbook.
