Connect Users

Jun 14, 2013

App Controller, along with StoreFront, enables the delivery of business applications on any device to any user and provides single sign-on (SSO) to Windows, web, mobile, and Software as a Service (SaaS) applications. You configure prepackaged SaaS and enterprise web application connectors in App Controller for SSO. You can also upload mobile apps to App Controller that appear in the store. Users can connect to App Controller with Citrix Receiver to access their apps and documents.

In an environment in which Receiver, StoreFront, and App Controller are deployed, the store is the service in StoreFront that aggregates applications from XenApp farms, XenDesktop sites, and App Controller. When users log on to Receiver, applications from the store appear in Receiver. For more information about adding applications in App Controller, see Configuring Applications for Single Sign-On.

When users log on by using Receiver for Web, a list of available applications appears in the web browser. If users log on by using any version of Receiver, they can access stores and see their applications in the self-service view or they can get their applications from the Start menu on a Windows-based device.

Application synchronization is enabled automatically. StoreFront 1.2 requires a SQL database. If you install StoreFront 1.2 as a standalone installation, the database must be on the same device as StoreFront. If you have multiple server groups, you can install the database on a separate server. If you install StoreFront 2.0, the database is not required.

If your users connect from a remote location, you can configure user connections to applications in App Controller through NetScaler Gateway. You create trust settings between App Controller and NetScaler Gateway.

This section contains information about the following:
  • Configuring App Controller to communicate with StoreFront.
  • Configuring App Controller to allow connections from NetScaler Gateway.
