You can access the App Layering management console by using the appliance IP address entered in a web browser, or in Citrix Cloud. Currently, access to the management console in Citrix Cloud is in Labs. When you access the management console in Citrix Cloud, there are some items of which to be aware.
Default credentials for the management console
The first time you log on to the management console, you must use the default user name and password: Administrator, password Unidesk1. After you log on to the management console, you change all administrator passwords for the appliance.
Log on to the management console that is hosted on the App Layering appliance
There are two ways that you can log on to the Layering management console:
- In the hypervisor, locate the virtual machine created on the appliance and then find the IP address.
- By using Citrix Cloud.
The following are the procedures to log on to the Layering management console by using one of the listed methods.
To log on to the Layering management console by using the IP address
In your hypervisor, locate the virtual machine you created for the appliance and determine the IP address.
Type the IP address for the appliance as a URL in a compatible web browser:
http://<ip_address_of new_appliance>/
The logon page for the management console appears.
Log on to the management console as an administrator.
The first time you log on to the management console, the Set up Login Credentials wizard starts. Change the password for each administrative account on the appliance.
Access the management console in Citrix Cloud
When you log on to Citrix Cloud, you use the App Layering Manage tab to access the management console.
To log on to the management console in Citrix Cloud
Log on to https://citrix.cloud.com.
Click Manage on the App Layering tile.
The Citrix App Layering page appears.
Click the Manage Labs tab.
On the Access the App Layering Management Console page, select the Resource Location, type the Appliance Address and then click Connect.
The logon page appears for the management console.
Log on to the management console as an administrator.
The first time that you log on to the management console, the Set up Login Credentials wizard starts. Change the password for each administrative account on the appliance.
Known issues and considerations with management console access through Citrix Cloud (Labs)
You can encounter the following issues when you use Labs features:
- Accessing the console. Accessing the management console in Citrix Cloud in can take up to one minute. When the management console starts, the page is white. Also, every time you log on, you must type the IP address again.
- Session time-out error. If a session time-out error appears, click within the window and press Control-R to refresh.
- Hidden controls and tabs.
- Expanding menu. Near the top of the page, there is an expandable menu where you can access Citrix Receiver and other options. Click the Citrix Receiver icon to expand the menu.
- Browser tab bar. Toward the bottom of the page, hover over the black bar. A browser tab bar appears, where each page you have open appears as a tab. For example, when you open the documentation, you can use the browser tab bar to return to the management console.
- Remember Me feature. The Remember Me feature does not save your user name.
- Session Time-out. If the system settings time-out is longer than 10 minutes, the setting is not honored.
- Uploads. Upload layer and image icons, and certificates when you access the management console in a web browser, rather than in Citrix Cloud.
- Export Log Files requires the Email Send Option. When you export App Layering log files, you must select the Email option on the Send Options tab. You cannot download the logs from Citrix Cloud.
- vSphere packaging links during layer creation. In the management console taskbar, the vSphere packaging links are broken.
- Copy and paste. Use the Citrix Receiver clipboard to copy and paste. Copy and paste between the Citrix Receiver window and the local clipboard does not work.
- Access from tablets and phones. Access to the management console is supported in web browsers on computers only.
