Service flaps or suboptimal virtual server health

One of the most common issues you might face is service flapping, in which the state of a service changes frequently. Service flapping might indicate configuration issues or network issues, and could lead to outages for end users whose requests are directed to the flapping services.

In such situations, you might want to see which service is in the DOWN state at a specific time, or you might want to determine how many services are in the UP or DOWN state for a given application and at a given time. Advanced Analytics displays notifications containing this information. You can further drill down to see the associated details or reasons for the flapping, and make informed decisions about corrective measures.

To view the service flaps:

  1. In a web browser, log on to Citrix Application Delivery Management (Citrix ADM).

  2. In User Name and Password, enter the administrator credentials.

  3. On the Application Dashboard, double click the application tile of the application for which you want to view the service flaps.

  4. In the App Activity Investigator section, select the error legend plotted for Service Flaps on the graph.

  5. From the Service Flaps section, you can view the state of the services when an event is generated, time of the event,  Service name, and Service IP Address.
