Server errors

In some scenarios, the web server responds with status codes when it is currently unable to handle the requests for reasons such as invalid requests, temporary overloading, or server maintenance. These errors are displayed with error codes which defines various scenarios of the errors. For example,

  • 502 Bad Gateway The server is acting as a gateway or proxy and received an invalid response from the upstream server.

  • 503 Service Unavailable The server is currently unavailable. The servers might be overloaded or down for maintenance.

  • 504 Gateway Time-out The server is acting as a gateway or proxy and did not receive a timely response from the upstream server.

These can be temporary conditions, but sometimes you have to implement a corrective measure on the webservers to make the web pages up and available.

With Intelligent App Analytics, you can view these failures and make decisions about corrective actions to overcome the issues, so that all the client requests are served and the web pages are always available.

To view the server errors:

  1. On the Application Dashboard, double-click the application tile of the application for which you want to view the server errors.

  2. In the App Activity Investigator section, select the error legend plotted for Server Error-5XX on the graph.

For quick access, you can hover your mouse pointer on the legend to show details such as type of the error, time, and total events that have happened in the selected duration of time.
