The Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 2106 release contains the following issues. Components and features that are documented separately have their own known issues articles.

If a known issue has a workaround, it is provided after the description of the issue.

The following warning applies to any workaround that suggests changing a registry entry:
Warning:
Editing the registry incorrectly can cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.
Install and upgrade

When upgrading a deployment to this version, the compatibility check incorrectly reports “Required Customer Success Services Date: 2021-08-15”.
If you see this message, and your Customer Success Services date is at least May 15, 2021 (2021-05-15):
- Proceed with the upgrade if you’re using the installer’s graphical interface.
- If you were using the command-line interface, start the installer again, using the graphical interface.

In a command line VDA installation that includes the WEM Agent and specifies WEM Cloud Connectors (
/includeadditional "Citrix WEM Agent" /wem_cloud_connectors "name1, name2"), the WEM agent is installed, but the WEM Cloud Connectors configuration is not processed.As a workaround, after the VDA installation, run the WEM configuration utility (
AgentConfigurationUtility setup --cloud --connectors "name1, name2").This issue does not occur when using the VDA installer’s graphical interface or when you have an on-premises WEM deployment.

When you disconnect a user session from the first endpoint and then reconnect to the same session from the second endpoint (thin client), the client side audio devices might be listed in an incorrect order within the VDA.
To enable the fix, set the following registry key:

If you install Citrix Workspace app on the VDA and upgrade the VDA, the client webcam may not properly redirect 32-bit applications running in the virtual session. To work around this issue, see CTX291350. [CVADHELP-16854]

After you run the Modeling wizard to produce a report of the modeling results, Citrix Studio stops working. To use Citrix Studio, you must restart Studio after you run the modeling report. [GP-753]

If you launch the app bar and then open the Connection Center menu in Citrix Workspace app for Windows, the app bar doesn’t appear under the server that hosts it. [HDX-27504]

If you use Citrix Workspace app for Windows and launch the app bar in a vertical position, the bar covers the Start menu or the system clock tray. [HDX-27505]

If you try to add a protected app to your Favorites, this message might appear, “Your apps are not available at this time…” When you then click OK, this message appears, “Cannot add app.” After you switch to the Favorites screen, the protected app is listed there, but you can’t remove it from Favorites. [WSP-5497]

In the Chrome browser with browser content redirection in effect, when you click a link that opens a new tab, the tab might not open. As a workaround, select Always allow pop-ups and redirects in the Pop-ups blocked message. [HDX-23950]

After installing the Skype for Business Web App Plug-in, webcams might not be enumerated and meeting pages on Firefox might not refresh automatically. [HDX-13288]

When you start an application from StoreFront, the application might not start in the foreground, or the application is in the foreground but might not have focus. As a workaround, click the icon in the task bar to bring the application to the front or in the application screen to bring it to focus. [HDX-10126]

When you connect to a new session, disconnect, and then reconnect to the same session, your desktop icons might flicker. As a workaround, reset the user profile, log off from the session, and log on again. [HDX-15926, UPM-1362]

When using Windows 10 1809 LTSC,
VCLibsdependencies fail to install. [HDX-16754] -
The combo box might not display properly when a user selects a combo box that is already in focus on the host. As a workaround, select another UI element and then select the combo box. [HDX-21671]

You have enabled Local App Access. If you start a Windows 2012 R2 VDA session, disconnect and reconnect the session, and then start a local application and maximize it, the VDA taskbar might truncate the application. [HDX-21913]

When you modify a VDA installation using the full product installer, you can add MCSIO storage optimization to the installation by selecting the option Enable MCSIO write cache for storage optimization. The installation proceeds without installing the MCSIO driver. [HDX-21754]

When you use generic USB redirection to redirect a composite USB device that contains a mouse as a subdevice into an RDS session, that device might not be available. The most common such device is a Wacom drawing tablet (not Wacom signature pad). As a workaround, manually start
icak2meng.exein the session after logging on. We suggest creating a group policy for Windows Multi-session OS 2016 or 2019 (not needed for Windows 10) that automatically startsC:\Program Files\Citrix\HDX\bin\icak2meng.exe. Create the policy to start the program in each user’s session as they log on. Only one instance running in each user’s session. The workaround is not need [HDX-25085] -
When your network has IPv4 and IPv6 addressing configured, a delivery group’s resources might not be accessible when the group uses a broker access policy rule that allows only IPv4 address filtering. To ensure all resource filtering behaves as expected, configure the broker access policy rule to include both client IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. [WADA-7776]
For example, to set rules allowing IPv4 and IPv6 addresses via ‘direct to StoreFront’ and ‘Citrix Gateway’ access, use PowerShell such as:

When applications from Microsoft Office 365 build 16.0.7967 and later are published as applications from a Windows Server 2019 host, Office license activation fails. Citrix is working with Microsoft to address this Microsoft limitation. The supported workaround is to install Windows Server 2016 VDAs, which do not have Web Authentication Manager component that is misbehaving. [LCM-7637]

Data masking does not mask the license server if the configuration uses a dedicated license server. [XAXDTELE-1634]

After a
BrokerHostingPowerActionPowerShell cmdlet runs, the Studio Logging display indicates that the cmdlet failed, although the cmdlet completed successfully. As a workaround, check the result on the host. [BRK-7002]
Director
-
The Console link on “Citrix Director > Machine Details” does not launch the machine console in the Microsoft Edge 44 and Firefox 68 ESR browsers. [DIR-8160]

If you upgraded to Director 7 1903 or later and did not clear the browser cache (not selecting the Disable cache check box), previously created custom reports are lost. Also, Director displays an
Unexpected Server erroron the Custom Reports tab. UI design differences between previous and current Director versions can cause this issue. To view earlier custom reports and create new ones, disable cache and perform a hard refresh. [DIR-7634]
Graphics

The first time a user starts a virtual desktop hosted on a Microsoft Hyper-V or Azure instance with AMD GPU assigned, a gray border appears on the screen. To fix the issue, disable and then enable the Citrix Indirect Display driver (IDD) using the device manager within the remote session. [HDX-26222]

Setting the policy View window contents while dragging to Prohibited does not work on ESXi and Hyper-V. [HDX-22002]
-
If you start a video preview using a 64-bit webcam app over Theora compression, the session might crash. [HDX-21443]

Skype Universal Windows app (UWA) launches with a black background. Sometimes, this background occupies the client’s entire screen. [HDX-22088]

Sometimes, an application launches in the background while another application is in focus. As a result, local window ordering is lost. [HDX-21569]

The XenCenter console might display a blank screen after disconnecting a XenDesktop session. As a workaround, send CTLR+ALT+DEL to the XenCenter console to make the console screen appear. [HDX-17261]

DPI might not match during a session running on Windows Multi-session OS 2016 or 2019 when the DPI is changed on the client and the session is reconnected. As a workaround, resize the session window to match the DPI. [HDX-17313]

These issues apply to AMD hardware encoding. [HDX-20476]:

Pixelation might occur when using Citrix Workspace app for Windows. As a workaround, make the following registry setting on the client that has Citrix Workspace app for Windows installed:

- You might see less than optimal performance when using 4k resolution. This issue causes a frame rate of only 7–10 frames per second. Also, encoding time increases.
- Video stutter might occur for the first two to five seconds of the video when using the Selective H.264 graphics mode. RapidFire SDK is not designed for this use case.

Printing

Universal Print Server printers selected on the virtual desktop do not appear in the Devices and Printers window in the control panel. However, when users are working in applications, they can use those printers. This issue occurs only on Windows Server 2012, Windows 10, and Windows 8. For more information, see CTX213540. [HDX-5043, 335153]

The default printer might not be marked correctly in the printing dialog window. This issue does not affect print jobs sent to the default printer. [HDX-12755]
Third-party issues

Chrome supports UI Automation only for toolbars, tabs, menus, and buttons around a webpage. Because of this Chrome issue, the automatic keyboard display feature might not work in a Chrome browser on touch devices. As a workaround, run
chrome --force-renderer-accessibilityor you can open a new browser tab, typechrome://accessibility, and enable Native accessibility API support for specific or all pages. In addition, when you publish a seamless app, you can publish Chrome with the--force-renderer-accessibilityswitch. [HDX-20858] -
An issue in Microsoft Windows 10 version 1809 might cause slight erratic behavior when using the Surface Pro and Surface Book pen. [HDX-17649]

A VDA running on Azure might freeze when using Enlightened Data Transport (EDT), requiring a session reconnect. As a workaround, set edtMSS=1350 and OutbufLength=1350 in Azure environments. For more information, see CTX231821. [HDX-12913]

In browser content redirection, after starting a YouTube video using the YouTube HTML5 video player, full-screen mode might not work. You click the icon in the lower-right corner of the video, and the video doesn’t resize leaving the black background in the full area of the page. As a workaround, click the full screen button, and then select theater mode. [HDX-11294]

When File Explorer (explorer.exe) is published as an application on Windows Server 2019, displays do not refresh correctly after creating, renaming, or deleting a folder. As a workaround, create the following registry key.[CTX263595]
