Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops

Known issues

Notes

  • If a known issue has a workaround, it is provided after the description of the issue.

  • The following warning applies to any workaround that suggests changing a registry entry:

    Warning:

Editing the registry incorrectly can cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of the Registry Editor can be solved. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.

General

  • Session prepare request to VDA fails with an exception message. [CVADHELP-20832]

  • You’re unable to install the VDA on a Windows 11 desktop. You get the following error: Installation of the Citrix Authentication Identity Assertion VDA Plug-in failed with error code 1603. As a workaround, we recommend that you restart the installation. [AUTH-1858]

  • After changes in the Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops architecture in version 2209, the default icons for Windows desktops and for applications deployed before this release have changed to generic PC desktop icons. This change is only applicable to desktops and applications that are pointing to the default icon. If you want to change icons back to the Windows application default icon, run the following script using the Remote PowerShell SDK: Get-BrokerApplication -IconUid 1 | Set-BrokerApplication -IconUid 0.

  • If you launch the app bar and then open the Connection Center menu in Citrix Workspace app for Windows, the app bar doesn’t appear under the server that hosts it. [HDX-27504]

  • If you use Citrix Workspace app for Windows and launch the app bar in a vertical position, the bar covers the Start menu or the system clock tray. [HDX-27505]

  • After installing the Skype for Business Web App Plug-in, webcams might not be enumerated and meeting pages on Firefox might not refresh automatically. [HDX-13288]

  • When you start an application from StoreFront, the application might not start in the foreground, or the application is in the foreground but might not have focus. As a workaround, click the icon in the task bar to bring the application to the front or in the application screen to bring it to focus. [HDX-10126]

  • When using Windows 10 1809 LTSC, VCLibs dependencies fail to install. [HDX-16754]

  • The combo box might not display properly when a user selects a combo box that is already in focus on the host. As a workaround, select another UI element and then select the combo box. [HDX-21671]

  • You have enabled Local App Access. If you start a Windows 2012 R2 VDA session, disconnect and reconnect the session, and then start a local application and maximize it, the VDA taskbar might truncate the application. [HDX-21913]

  • If a Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops deployment with its VMs hosted on Citrix Hypervisor 8.2 uses multiple GFS2 SRs in a single MCS catalog, the VMs in the catalog cannot access the VDIs during deployment. The error “VDI is currently in use” is reported. [XSI-802]

  • Citrix Hypervisor doesn’t support MCS full clone VMs with GFS2 SRs. [XSI-832]

  • When applications from Microsoft Office 365 build 16.0.7967 and later are published as applications from a Windows Server 2019 host, Office license activation fails. Citrix is working with Microsoft to address this Microsoft limitation. The supported workaround is to install Windows Server 2016 VDAs, which do not have the Web Authentication Manager component that is misbehaving. [LCM-7637]

  • The Session limits settings for multi-session VDAs are declined in session hosts running Windows Server 2022, Windows 10 Enterprise multi-session, and Windows 11 Enterprise multi-session. As a workaround, you can configure RDS Session Time Limits through GPO. [HDX-47001]

  • In some scenarios, when you use the Client IP policy filter, the IP address used to evaluate the policy is incorrect. [HDX-62375]

Studio

  • When you install Web Studio using WebStudio_x64.msi, the installation wizard displays sample license agreement text instead of the following information that you need to accept to install the software. Note: We recommend using the ISO installer instead. [STUD-22584]

     CITRIX LICENSE AGREEMENT

Use of this component is subject to the Citrix license or terms of service covering the Citrix product(s) and/or service(s) with which you will be using this component. This component is licensed for use only with such Citrix product(s) and/or service(s).

  • In Web Studio > Logging > Events, MCS provisioning operations triggered through PowerShell might not display the correct status. Example: Even when an operation performed through PowerShell is completed, it might still appear as “In progress.” This issue does not affect the functionality of Citrix DaaS. This issue occurs with the following PowerShell cmdlets:

    • New-ProvSchme
    • New-ProvVM
    • Remove-ProvVM
    • Publish-ProvMasterVMImage
    • Reset-ProvVMDisk
    • New-ProvImageVersion
    • Set-ProvSchemeImage [STUD-23361, PMCS-36679, CCVADHELP-2743]

Director

  • The Console link in Citrix Director > Machine Details does not launch the machine console in the Microsoft Edge 44 and Firefox 68 ESR browsers. [DIR-8160]

Graphics

  • When sharing a minimized app, the title bar of the app might also be shared. [HDX-33898]

  • Setting the policy View window contents while dragging to Prohibited does not work on ESXi and Hyper-V. [HDX-22002]

  • If you start a video preview using a 64-bit webcam app over Theora compression, the session might crash. [HDX-21443]

  • For Windows 11 version 22H2, when moving a Windows Media Player window within a session, only the bottom half of the video is displayed. As a workaround, select: Settings > System > Multitasking > Snap windows > Show snap layouts when I drag a window to the top of my screen [HDX-42092]

  • When you try connecting to a disconnected VDA session on Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops version 2303, the screen is stuck on the Welcome screen. For more information, see the support article CTX547782. [HDX-49992]

Printing

  • Universal Print Server printers selected on the virtual desktop do not appear in the Devices and Printers window in the control panel. However, when users are working in applications, they can use those printers. This issue occurs only on Windows Server 2012, Windows 10, and Windows 8. For more information, see CTX213540. [HDX-5043, 335153]

  • The default printer might not be marked correctly in the printing dialog window. This issue does not affect print jobs sent to the default printer. [HDX-12755]

Machine Creation Services

  • The PowerShell command Remove-ProvVM with ForgetVM parameter might not function correctly if the Delivery Controller and remote PowerShell versions are not compatible. This implies that the Delivery Controller and remote PowerShell versions must be both earlier than 2212, or 2212 or later. For example, if the Delivery Controller version is later than 2212 and the remote PowerShell version is earlier than 2212, then the Remove-ProvVM command with ForgetVM parameter does not function as expected. As a workaround, download the latest PowerShell version to work with the latest Delivery controller version. [PMCS-40278]
  • When creating an MCS catalog with Nutanix host connection (specifically, Nutanix AHV plug-in 2.7.1), the hard disk size of provisioned VMs are incorrectly displayed on Full Configuration interface. The size displayed is much smaller (1 GB) than the real storage size (50 GB). The hard disk size is correctly displayed on the Nutanix console. [PMCS-30639 and PMCS-32206]

Third-party issues

  • Chrome supports UI Automation only for toolbars, tabs, menus, and buttons around a webpage. Because of this Chrome issue, the automatic keyboard display feature might not work in a Chrome browser on touch devices. As a workaround, run chrome --force-renderer-accessibility or you can open a new browser tab, type chrome://accessibility, and enable Native accessibility API support for specific or all pages. In addition, when you publish a seamless app, you can publish Chrome with the --force-renderer-accessibility switch. [HDX-20858]

  • In browser content redirection, after starting a YouTube video using the YouTube HTML5 video player, full-screen mode might not work. You click the icon in the lower-right corner of the video, and the video doesn’t resize leaving the black background in the full area of the page. As a workaround, click the full screen button, and then select theater mode. [HDX-11294]
