Proxy Auto Configuration for Outbound Proxy support for NetScaler Gateway

When you configure the NetScaler Gateway appliance to support Proxy Auto Configuration (PAC), the URL of a PAC file is pushed to the client browser. The traffic from the client is then redirected to the respective proxies as determined by the conditions defined in the PAC file.

Following are some common use cases for PAC for outbound proxy:

  • To configure multiple proxy servers that handle client traffic.
  • To load-balance the proxy traffic across subnets.

To use the command line interface to configure NetScaler Gateway global parameters to support PAC for outbound proxy

At the command prompt, type:

```
set vpn parameter -proxy BROWSER -autoProxyUrl <URL>
```

To configure NetScaler Gateway to support PAC in a session profile

At the command prompt, type:

     add vpn sessionAction <name> -proxy BROWSER -autoProxyUrl <URL>

Values

  • URL – URL for the proxy server
  • Name – Name of the VPN sessionAction

To use the NetScaler GUI to configure NetScaler Gateway global parameters to support PAC for outbound proxy

  1.  Navigate to ConfigurationNetScaler Gateway > Global Settings.
  2.  On the Global Settings page, click Change Global Settings, and then select the Client Experience tab.
  3.  On the Client Experience tab, select Advanced Settings, and then select the Proxy tab.
  4.  On the Proxy tab, select Browser, and then select Use Automatic Configuration.
  5.  In the URL To Auto Proxy Config File field, type the URL for the required PAC file.
  6.  Click Create.

To use the NetScaler GUI to configure NetScaler Gateway to support PAC on Session Profile

  1.  Navigate to ConfigurationNetScaler GatewayPolicies> Session.
  2.  On the NetScaler Gateway Session Policies and Profiles page, create a NetScaler Gateway Session Profile.

To create a NetScaler Gateway session profile, select the Session Profiles tab, click Add, and enter a name.

  1.  On the Client Experience tab, select Advanced Settings and then select the Proxy tab.
  2.  On the Proxy tab, select Browser, and then select Use Automatic Configuration.
  3.  In the URL To Auto Proxy Config File field, type the URL for the required PAC file.
  4.  Click Create.
