WorxMail and WorxWeb

Nov 04, 2013

The Worx mobile apps include WorxMail and WorxWeb. These two mobile apps let users easily access their email, calendar, and contacts, as well as intranet web sites. Citrix provides these apps for the iPhone, iPad, and Android phones and tablets.

Users can start WorxWeb on their mobile device to access intranet web sites. You can limit access to certain web sites to comply with your organization's compliance rules. When users click an intranet link in an email message, WorxWeb starts and goes to the intranet site without any further authentication check. If users connect to your intranet from a remote location, the connection goes through NetScaler Gateway automatically. MDX Interapp technology ensures that SSO and app communications happen in a transparent manner to the user. If users click a mailto link on the page they are browsing in WorxWeb, an email compose form from WorxMail opens. Users can upload data to ShareFile that users download from the web by using WorxWeb.

WorxMail gives users access to their email, calendar, and contacts. It works with Microsoft Exchange and ActiveSync messaging protocol. Users can also access documents in ShareFile from their email account. When users open a document in WorxMail, they can only download documents to their ShareFile space on the device. When you manage the ShareFile space on the user device, documents are secure and you can enforce compliance rules.

Citrix provides WorxWeb and WorxMail as wrapped mobile apps for iOS and Android. You upload the apps to App Controller in the same way you upload other wrapped iOS and Android mobile apps. Users subscribe to WorxWeb and WorxMail in Citrix Receiver.

WorxMail icons:

Reading email

  1. Select the Mail inbox.

  2. Unread mails are indicated by a thin blue line on the left of the unread mail.

Organizing Your Email Inbox

You can change your WorxMail settings to organize your Inbox in the way that best suits you. For example, you can organize your email by subject. For iOS devices, messages organized by subject are called a thread. For Android devices, they are called a conversation. The subject order view gathers all of the messages that are part of the same conversation and places them in your Inbox according to the most recent arrival. A number appears indicating how many messages are part of the conversation.

To configure your Inbox organization

  1. In WorxMail, go to Settings.
  2. Do one of the following: iOS users: Tap Organize by Conversation.

Android users: Tap General and then tap Organize by Thread.

Adding emphasis to text in an email

When writing an email message, you can emphasize text with the formatting editor in WorxMail.
  1. Type the text of your email message.
  2. Select the text you want to emphasize. For iOS users, the formatting editor appears. For Android users, the formatting editor is always available when writing or editing a message.

  3. Tap the desired icon on the formatting editor to add emphasis to the selected text.

Adding Images to Email Messages on Android Devices

Rather than adding an image as an attachment, you can enhance email messages on Android devices by adding an image directly in the body of the text.
  1. From within a new message or response, tap where you want to insert the image.
  2. From the formatting editor, tap the Add Image icon.

  3. Tap the app in which the image is stored.
  4. Navigate to the image and tap it to add the image to the message.
Note: Some apps may require you to tap the image twice or more before the image is added to the message.

To view, accept, and, edit meeting invitations

The procedures in this topic describe how meeting invitations appear in the WorxMail Calendar and how to accept or decline invitations and revise meeting details.

To view and accept an invitation

In the WorxMail Calendar, meetings in blue have been accepted and meetings in grey have yet to be accepted or rejected.

Note: For performance implications, WorxMail Calendar synchronizes three month periods of recurring events and appointments at a time. WorxMail Calendar synchronizes additional events and appointments as time progresses.

  1. From the WorxMail home screen, tap Calendar.
  2. Tap the meeting. The Event Details appear.
  3. Optionally, you can tap one of the following icons to accept, tentatively accept, or decline the invitation:

    Accept the invitation.

    Tentatively accept the invitation.

    Decline the invitation.

Frequently, after sending a meeting invitation, you may need to reschedule the meeting, change the invite list, change the location, or make other revisions.

  1. From the WorxMail home screen, tap Calendar.
  2. Tap the meeting. The Event Details appear.
  3. Tap Edit. If the meeting is a recurring event, the Calendar prompts you to edit the selected occurrence or the entire series.

If the meeting is a single event, the Edit Event panel appears.
  4. If the meeting is recurring event, tap Edit Occurrence or Edit Series. The Edit Event panel appears.

  5. Tap the area you want to edit, make your changes and then tap Done.

To 'Fast Join' a GoToMeeting from WorxMail

One of the great new features in WorxMail is the ability to 'Fast Join' a GoToMeeting from a calendar invite inside of WorxMail. So now, even on the go from your device, all you need to do is click once and GoToMeeting is automatically launched. Or, you can dial directly into a meeting from the same calendar invite.

  1. Inside of WorxMail, tap on Calendar.
  2. Select a calendar invite.
  3. If the meeting was set up with GoToMeeting, all you need to do to join the meeting is to click the Join Meeting icon.

To synchronize Contacts lists

WorxMail contains a Contacts list separate from the one associated with the mail system that came with your mobile device. Accessing only its built-in Contacts list helps maintain the security of WorxMail. To keep from maintaining two Contacts lists, however, you can synchronize lists. By doing so, updates made to one are reflected in the other.
  1. From WorxMail, go to Settings.
  2. Tap Account.
  3. Tap Sync with local contacts. A message appears informing you that changes made to your WorxMail Contacts list will also be made to your device Contacts list.
  4. Tap OK.

To send feedback for WorxMail

You can send feedback to Citrix regarding WorxMail to ask questions, send us ideas for app improvement, or if you are running into any issues.

  1. Go into WorxMail Settings.
  2. Tap Send Feedback to Citrix.

WorxMail Audio Formats

With the release of XenMobile 8.6.1, users can now open .wav and .mp3 audio attachments in WorxMail on iOS devices. The .wav format is the most common format used by service providers to convert voicemail messages to email attachments.

The Microsoft-defined interface standard for .wav is followed widely. Other details to note about the .wav format are as follows:

  • The extensions for the wave format are: .wav or .wave.
  • Wave is basically a container for various forms of codecs. The most common codec is PCM, which can be used for encoding at different quality levels. The sampling rates start from 6000 hertz (Hz) at 8-bit to 11,025 Hz at 16-bit.
  • Codecs available for .wav files include ADPCM, PCM, GSM, CELP, SBC, TrueSpeech, and MPEG-4.

Using WorxWeb

WorxWeb leverages MDX technologies to create a dedicated VPN tunnel for accessing your organization’s internal network and the other MDX security features to ensure that your users can access all of their websites, including those with sensitive information. WorxWeb offers a seamless user experience in its integration with WorxMail to allow your users to click links, such as "mailto," and have the native apps open inside the secure container on the mobile device.
