About Performance Monitoring

Oct 09, 2015

The Performance tab in XenCenter provides real time monitoring of performance statistics across resource pools as well as graphical trending of virtual and physical machine performance.

  • You can view up to 12 months of performance data and zoom in to take a closer look at activity spikes. To learn more, see Viewing performance data.
  • By default, graphs showing CPU, memory, network and disk I/O are included on the tab, but you can add more performance data and change the appearance of the graphs. To learn more, see Configuring performance graphs
  • You can have XenCenter generate performance alerts when CPU, network I/O or disk I/O usage go over a specified threshold on a managed server or virtual machine. To learn more, see Configuring performance alerts.

Note that full performance data is only available for virtual machines with the XenServer paravirtualized drivers (XenServer Tools) installed.

The advanced performance reporting and alerting features are available in Citrix XenServer Advanced Edition or higher. To learn more about the features available in different XenServer Editions, click here.
