Known Issues

Oct 08, 2015

Important: When you add users to Active Directory, you must enter the first name, last name, and email in the user properties. If you do not configure users in Active Directory with this information, App Controller cannot synchronize these individuals. When users attempt to start an app, users receive a message that they are not authorized to use the app.

Important Notes

  1. User account requests by using the workflow template with the App Controller workflow feature is not supported for users who connect with Receiver for Web.
  2. User account requests by using the subscription workflow template with the App Controller workflow feature is not supported on Receiver for Mac 11.4. Users need to upgrade to Receiver for Mac 11.6 or 11.7.
  3. The internal URL redirection feature, in which Receiver checks a keyword to determine if the URL requires a connection with the NetScaler Gateway Plug-in, is not available with Receiver for Web. The feature is supported only with Receiver for Windows Versions 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, or 3.4.
  4. If you configure proxy servers to use both HTTP and HTTPS, App Controller uses the secure proxy server for all application connectors. If you configure only HTTP, or only HTTPS, App Controller uses the configured proxy server for all application connectors.
  5. App Controller contains the management console. To open the management console, in a Web browser, enter https://<App ControllerFQDN>:4443/ControlPoint where <App Controller FQDN> is the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) or IP address of App Controller. The default user name is administrator and the password is password.

Installing App Controller

You can find installation instructions for App Controller in Citrix eDocs at Installing App Controller 2.8.

Migrating to App Controller 2.8 From Earlier App Controller Versions

You can upgrade from AppController 2.5, or 2.6 to App Controller 2.8. Upgrades from AppController versions before 2.5 are not supported.

Before you start the upgrade, do the following:

  1. Take a snapshot of the virtual machine (VM) in the XenCenter or vSphere console or in Microsoft Hyper-V.
  2. Make sure that App Controller has an active network connection with valid credentials to Active Directory.

If you do not have an active network connection to Active Directory, the upgrade fails and reverts back to the previous version.

  3. After the upgrade is complete, either close and then open the web browser, or clear the browser cache.

If your configuration is large, the upload might take several minutes. Do not interrupt the upgrade process before it is complete.

When the upgrade file successfully uploads, you receive a prompt to restart App Controller. If you choose to restart App Controller at a later time, you need to restart by using the command-line console.

For more information about upgrading App Controller, see xmob-appc-maintain-upgrade-app-con.html#clg-appc-maintain-upgrade-app-c-con.

For information about upgrading a high availability pair, see Configuring High Availability.

Known Issues

  1. If users cancel downloading an app from Worx Home, users cannot start the download again. Users must log off and then log on again to Worx Home. [#386565]
  2. When you updated to App Controller 2.8, you must clear your browser cache after the upgrade. If you do not clear the cache, the management console from the previous App Controller version appears. [#388937]
  3. When you add the CitrixAccessGateway application to App Controller and administrators attempt to test single-sign-on for user names and passwords with Unicode characters, the test users cannot log on to NetScaler Gateway. The single-sign-on test page for administrators does not support UTF-8 characters. [#389870]
  4. When you upload Worx Store or Worx Home to App Controller, you can configure devices to be excluded. Worx Store requires a specific iOS device type, such as iPad 3 or iPhone 5. Worx Store looks for an exact pattern match. For example, if you want to exclude all iPads, you need to specify iPad 1, iPad 2, and so forth. Worx Home does not require the device version to make exclusions. If you specify either iPad 5 or iPad, Worx Home excludes all iPads. [#392624, #399530]
  5. When you configure ShareFile and save the settings, App Controller does not reconcile identical duplicate email addresses in Active Directory that are assigned to different users. You must manually reconcile one of the user accounts and make sure Active Directory does not contain duplicate email addresses. [#398666]
  6. To allow secure communication by using SSL between App Controller and XenMobile Device Manager, you must install a certificate signed by a public Certificate Authority (CA) on Device Manager, such as VeriSign or Thawte. If you use a private certificate signed internally, you cannot secure communication between App Controller and Device Manager. [#399847]
