Azure

The articles in this section outline the different connectors available for your Azure environment, as well as required fields for all Azure connector configurations.

Connectors

Package layers

For creating and versioning layers in an Azure environment, use the Azure Deployments connector.

Publish layered images

For publishing layered image into an Azure environment, the Azure Deployments connector and Machine Creation for Azure Deployments connector connector are available.

For publishing images to PVS for use with Azure targets, use the Citrix Provisioning connector configured with Azure Deployments as its offloading connector configuration.

Image Portability

For performing IPS tasks in Azure, use the Image Portability for Azure connector.

Required fields

The following is information on required fields that are shared across all available Azure connectors.

Identity

Identity specifies how to authenticate with your Azure environment.

There are two ways to configure Azure connectors to authenticate with Azure: using a managed identity or a registered application. While using a managed identity is a convenient way to grant rights to the appliance, using app registration credentials enables the connector to access resources across tenants and to be configured on appliances that don’t reside in Azure.

Managed identity

With the Azure connectors, you are able to authenticate to Azure with the managed identity assigned to the App Layering appliance in Azure.

Since a managed identity must be assigned, this method is only supported on an App Layering appliance deployed in Azure.

Registered application

A registered application establishes a trust relationship between your App layering appliance and your Azure environment. To authenticate using your registration credentials, the Azure connector configurations require the following information:

  • Azure Environment - The environment being used, whether Azure Public Cloud or Azure Government.
  • Tenant ID - An Azure Active Directory instance, this GUID identifies your organization’s dedicated instance of Azure Active Directory (AD).
  • Client ID - An identifier for the App Registration, which your organization has created for App Layering.
  • Client Secret - The password for the Client ID you are using. If you have forgotten the Client Secret, you can create a new one.
