Citrix SD-WAN

LACP for link redundancy

Link aggregation allows you to support port redundancy. In this case, two or more ports can be grouped together to work as a single port to send out the traffic at any given time.

In Citrix SD-WAN release 11.0 simple LAG (ACTIVE-BACKUP) is supported. The 802.3ad LACP protocol based negotiations are not supported in the current release. At any time only one port is active and the other ports are in backup mode. The active and backup support rely on the Data Plane Devlelopment Kit (DPDK) package for LACP functionality. The LACP feature is available only on DPDK supported platforms, except VPX/VPXL.

Note

The LACP and LAG features are not supported on Citrix SD-WAN 2100 platform.

Limitations

  • Maximum 3 LACP ports can be created in 210 and 410 appliances and maximum 4 ports can be added per LACP group.

  • In all other appliances (except 210 and 410), 4 LACP groups can be created and 4 ports can be added for each group.

Benefits

  • Enhanced Performance and redundancy.
  • Increased availability
  • Rapid configuration and reconfiguration

To view the Link Aggregation Group, navigate to Configuration > expand Virtual WAN > select Configuration Editor. Select a virtual WAN configuration .db file from the Change management or browse the file and select the file to import.

You can view all the available physical ports and ethernet interfaces. Click + to create or add LAG, select the member ports, and click Apply. Once the ports are added to the LAG, you can see only the LAG ports in the Interface Group instead of the member.

NOTE

The Link State Propagation (LSP) feature is not supported if the Interface Group has LACP port. LACP ports can be configured for LAN/WAN sites and HA port.

To view the active and standby LAG ports detail, navigate to Configuration > expand Appliance Settings > click Network Adapters > select Ethernet tab.

To change the configuration settings, you cannot select the slave ports as those are belongs to LAG. That means if any setting changes happen in the LAG, the same change will automatically pushed to the slave ports.
