Requirements

Citrix® Control Plane

  • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops™ 2402 or later
  • Citrix DaaS

Session Host

  • Operating system
    • Windows 11
    • Windows Server 2019 or later
  • VDA
    • Windows: version 2402 or later

Note:

When the session host is a Windows Server, microphone access must be enabled on the server as it is disabled by default.

Client Device

  • Operating system
    • Windows 11
    • Linux
  • Workspace app
    • Windows: version 2402 or later
    • Linux: version 2601 or later

Note:

  • Older versions of Citrix Workspace App for Linux might require additional configuration on the client endpoint and might have some feature gaps.
  • Nuance PowerMic and Philips SpeechMike devices are supported in single-hop Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops sessions. Multi-hop or nested virtualization scenarios may result in degraded performance and are not recommended for latency-sensitive dictation workflows.

Configuration

Dictation microphones are composite USB devices that expose both audio and HID interfaces. The HID interfaces are redirected using USB redirection, while audio traffic flows through the HDX audio channel. The steps below configure split-device USB redirection for each supported device model.

PowerMic 4

The PowerMic 4 is a composite device with 8 interfaces. The HID interfaces (04, 05, 06, 07) are redirected via USB redirection; audio flows through the HDX audio channel.

  1. In Citrix Web Studio, enable the Client USB device redirection policy setting.
  2. Edit the Client USB device redirection rules (Version 2) policy setting and add the following rule, then click Save:
   Connect: VID=0554 PID=0064 split=1 intf=04,05,06,07 #Nuance PowerMic4

  1. Edit the Allow existing USB devices to be automatically connected policy setting. Clear the Use default value checkbox, select Automatically redirect available USB devices, and click Save.
  2. Edit the Allow newly arrived USB devices to be automatically connected policy setting. Clear the Use default value checkbox, select Automatically redirect available USB devices, and click Save.

Once these settings are configured, the PowerMic 4 device will automatically be presented in subsequent HDX sessions and will not require any additional end-user action.

PowerMic 3

The PowerMic 3 is a composite device with 4 interfaces. The HID interface (03) is redirected via USB redirection; audio flows through the HDX audio channel.

  1. In Citrix Web Studio, enable the Client USB device redirection policy setting.
  2. Edit the Client USB device redirection rules (Version 2) policy setting and add the following rule, then click Save:
   Connect: VID=0554 PID=1001 split=01 intf=03 #Nuance PowerMic3

  1. Edit the Allow existing USB devices to be automatically connected policy setting. Clear the Use default value checkbox, select Automatically redirect available USB devices, and click Save.

Philips SpeechMike

The Philips SpeechMike is a composite device with 7 interfaces. The HID interfaces (03, 04, 05, 06) are redirected via USB redirection; audio flows through the HDX audio channel.

  1. In Citrix Web Studio, enable the Client USB device redirection policy setting.
  2. Edit the Client USB device redirection rules (Version 2) policy setting and add the following rule, then click Save:
   Connect: VID=0911 PID=0c1c split=1 intf=03,04,05,06 #Philips SpeechMike

  1. Edit the Allow existing USB devices to be automatically connected policy setting. Clear the Use default value checkbox, select Automatically redirect available USB devices, and click Save.
  2. Edit the Allow newly arrived USB devices to be automatically connected policy setting. Clear the Use default value checkbox, select Automatically redirect available USB devices, and click Save.

Once these settings are configured, the Philips SpeechMike device will automatically be presented in subsequent HDX sessions and will not require any additional end-user action.
