Requirements
Hardware requirements

Software requirements
- Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime version 131 or later
- .NET Framework 4.8 and .NET Desktop Runtime 10.0.9 or later
- Latest version of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable
Note:
Security patches for third-party components (.NET, VC++ Redistributable, Edge WebView) should be handled via Windows auto update or admin-managed deployment tools such as SCCM.
Microsoft Edge WebView2 requirements
- Packaged with the Evergreen Bootstrapper version of Edge WebView2 Runtime.
- Can be installed during CWA installation (requires internet), or through the offline Evergreen Standalone Installer beforehand.

Note:
Non-admin install without WebView2 present will fail with a message requiring admin privileges to install Edge WebView2 Runtime.
.NET requirements
Prerequisites
- .NET Framework 4.8 is required for CWA 2409 and later.
- For releases up to 2507.1 LTSR CU2, use 8.0.16 or later through 8.x.
- Starting with 2507.1 LTSR CU3 and 2607 LTSR use 10.0.9 or later.
- You must install the x86 version of the .NET Desktop Runtime even on an x64 system.
- Internet connection is needed if installing .NET as part of CWA installation.
- Administrator privileges are required. Non-admin install fails if .NET components are missing.

Important:
.NET Desktop Runtime 8.x reaches end of support on November 10, 2026. After that date, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates for .NET 8. CWA 2507 CU3 LTSR, 2607 LTSR, and subsequent Current Releases have moved to .NET Desktop Runtime 10 accordingly. Customers on earlier CWA versions should plan to upgrade before this date. .NET Framework 4.8 is unaffected — it is supported as part of the Windows OS lifecycle.
Installation methods

Note:
Run Microsoft Update to ensure .NET is current. CWA supports the latest .NET version within the required major version.
Compatibility with the higher versions of .NET
- CWA 2405 and later is compatible with higher supported .NET versions present on the system.
- If no .NET Desktop Runtime or a version below the minimum is present, CWA installs the required version.
- If a supported higher version within the required major version is installed, CWA is compatible with it.
Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable requirements
- Latest version required. Minimum version for CWA 2508 and later is 14.42.34433.0.
- Citrix recommends the latest version; otherwise a restart prompt might appear during an upgrade.
- Since version 1904, the VC++ Redistributable is packaged with the CWA installer.
- Non-admin install may fail if the VC++ package is missing.
Connectivity requirements
Feature flag management
- Feature flags dynamically enable or disable features in production.
- No configuration is needed unless a firewall or proxy blocks outbound traffic.
- Required URL (CWA 2409 and later):

Note:
Adding the preceding URL to the allow list is essential for optimal use of Citrix feature flags.

CWA is compatible with all currently supported versions of:
- Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.
- Citrix DaaS (formerly Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops service).
- Citrix Gateway.

Note:
Citrix Gateway EPA plug-in is supported on native CWA only when using nFactor authentication. CWA installation on Windows is supported only when the customer has mainstream or extended support from Microsoft. Once a Windows version reaches End of Service, Citrix no longer supports CWA on that version.

Important:

Note:
