2607 LTSR features
.NET 10 Framework
Starting with Citrix Workspace app 2607 LTSR, the application runtime has moved to the .NET 10 framework, replacing the .NET 8 runtime dependency used in Citrix Workspace app 2507 LTSR. The .NET 10 framework offers improved performance, enhanced security, and long-term support from Microsoft.
If .NET 10 is not installed on the system, Citrix Workspace app installs the required .NET 10 runtime during installation. If a supported higher version of .NET is already installed, Citrix Workspace app is compatible with the highest available .NET version (up to 10.x).
Web page zoom synchronization for Browser Content Redirection
Browser Content Redirection now synchronizes zoom levels between the VDA browser and the client-rendered BCR overlay, ensuring consistent scaling of web content.
Keyboard shortcut support in browser content redirection
Browser content redirection now correctly routes keyboard shortcuts when you interact with a redirected page. Shortcuts that operate on page content, such as find in page and zoom, now work directly within the redirected overlay. Shortcuts that manage browser windows and tabs work through the VDA browser.
Feature included from 2603.10 release
Cisco Webex VDI Plugin support for 64-bit CWA
Citrix Workspace app 64-bit now includes the Cisco Webex 64-bit VDI plugin. When you perform a manual upgrade, you have the option to select the Cisco Webex VDI plugin from the installer. For silent installations, use the command-line parameter ADDONS=WebexVDIPlugin to include the plugin.
Features included from 2603 release
The following features are added in this release:
CWA Log Upload support through Gateway scenarios
Citrix Workspace app (CWA) now supports uploading AOT logs in deployments where users connect through Citrix Gateway. Previously, direct log upload was supported only in direct connection scenarios. With this enhancement, customer devices can now forward Citrix Workspace app logs to the configured AOT Log Server even when connections are established through Gateway, enabling improved end-to-end troubleshooting visibility.
To use this capability, customers must use Citrix Workspace app for Windows 2603 or later, or Citrix Workspace app for Windows 2507 CU2 or later.
In-session screen capture and window preview for BCR
Browser Content Redirection (BCR) now supports capturing redirected content using VDA-side screenshot tools such as the Windows Snipping Tool. Redirected content is also visible in taskbar previews and during Alt+Tab window switching. This ensures a consistent user experience where BCR-redirected content behaves like any other application window on the VDA desktop.
CEF update to version 143
The version of the Chromium-Embedded Framework (CEF) used in Browser Content Redirection (BCR) is upgraded to version 143. This upgraded version includes fixes for known security vulnerabilities including CVE-2025-14174.
Web page zoom synchronization for BCR
Browser Content Redirection now synchronizes zoom levels between the VDA browser and the client-rendered BCR overlay. This ensures consistent scaling of web content, so that text, images, and layout appear at the same zoom level in both the in-session browser and the redirected overlay.
Enhanced window handling and thumbnail previews for BCR
BCR now provides live thumbnail previews of redirected browser tabs during Alt+Tab window switching and taskbar hover. Window handling for overlapping windows has also been improved, ensuring that BCR-redirected content is properly layered with other application windows on the virtual desktop.
Storebrowse SDK In-memory ICA File Handling
ICA files are now processed entirely in memory when using the Storebrowse SDK, preventing sensitive connection data from being written to disk. This enhancement applies to Storebrowse SDK-based integrations including ISV and healthcare deployments, improving the security posture for environments that require strict data handling.
Enhanced client-side touch keyboard (continued)
This release includes further improvements to the consistency, performance, and reliability of the client-side touch keyboard experience. These enhancements build on the touch keyboard improvements introduced in Citrix Workspace app 2511, providing a more seamless on-screen keyboard experience across a wider range of touch-enabled devices.
Citrix Troubleshoot Connection — Recommendation Experience Updates
The Citrix Troubleshoot Connection feature now includes improved UI layout stability and clearer network condition messaging. Users see specific network status indicators such as Low Bandwidth, High Latency, and Weak Wi-Fi Signal. Administrators can now disable Connection Strength Indicator (CSI) notifications centrally using the Global App Configuration Service (GACS).
Anti-DLL Injection Event Logging
The Anti-DLL Injection feature no longer displays notifications to end users when an untrusted module is blocked. Instead, untrusted module load attempts are silently logged to the Windows Event Viewer and reported to Citrix Director/Monitor with metadata including the module path and target process. This approach provides administrators with visibility into blocked modules without disrupting the end-user experience.
Features included from 2511 release
The following features are added in this release:
Session Recording add-on support
Citrix Workspace app now extends session monitoring capabilities directly to the endpoint device. The Session Recording agent can be installed as an add-on using the /InstallSRAgent command-line option during Citrix Workspace app installation. This enables administrators to record sessions from the endpoint perspective for compliance, auditing, and troubleshooting purposes.
Always On Tracing (AOT) support
This release introduces Always On Tracing (AOT) support for Citrix Workspace app for Windows. With this enhancement, log collection is automatic and continuous, enabling Workspace app components to generate structured AOT logs that are centrally collected by the AOT Log Server. This approach removes the need for manual log capture or issue reproduction on end-user devices.
AOT logs from the Workspace app are integrated with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) AOT data. This integration provides end-to-end visibility into connection, launch, and session workflows, allowing IT teams to correlate client-side and backend events, troubleshoot issues more efficiently, and reduce the time required to collect diagnostic information.
For more information and guidance on getting started, see Always On Tracing.
New GACS administrative settings
Global App Configuration Service (GACS) now supports additional settings for non-domain-joined devices. Administrators can use GACS to configure the following settings:
- Disable third-party data sending
- Always-On Tracing
- Silent authentication
- Hide Send Feedback
- SSO for NetScaler Gateway
- Don’t create Add/Remove Programs entry
- Silently uninstall removed resources
- Prevent persistent cookies
Citrix Troubleshoot Connection — Remediation action
Citrix Workspace app now provides a self-healing session launch experience. When a session fails to launch (for example, when the target VDI is unresponsive), users see a “Fix Issue” button that initiates a corrective action such as a VDI reboot. Real-time feedback is provided during the remediation process so users understand the status of the fix.
For more information, see Citrix Troubleshoot Connection.
EPA client installation behavior in admin mode
The Endpoint Analysis (EPA) client now automatically installs with admin privileges when deployed with Citrix Workspace app. Updates triggered in user mode may fail, so admin-level deployment is recommended for environments that require EPA.
Citrix Enterprise Browser (CEB) decoupled
Citrix Enterprise Browser is no longer bundled in the Citrix Workspace app installation package. It must be downloaded and installed independently from Citrix Downloads. This decoupling allows the Citrix Enterprise Browser to follow its own release cadence and receive updates independently of the Workspace app.
Default installation of Zoom VDI plugin Management
Zoom VDI plugin Management is now selected by default during Citrix Workspace app installation. Users can still deselect the component during interactive setup if Zoom is not required in their environment.
Multi-monitor experience enhancements
Users can now select specific monitors for session display directly from the Desktop Viewer toolbar or from Preferences. Session behavior during dock and undock events has been stabilized, and support for mixed DPI configurations across multiple monitors has been improved.
For more information, see Multi-monitor layout selection.
CSI 15-Minute Connection History
The Connection Strength Indicator (CSI) now includes a 15-minute connection history graph. Users can hover over the graph to see tooltips with the exact time and connection status at each data point. This helps users and administrators understand patterns in connection quality over time.
Controlling CSI Notifications
Administrators can now disable Connection Strength Indicator (CSI) notifications centrally using Group Policy Object (GPO). Users on BYOD devices can also manually disable CSI notifications within the Citrix Workspace app settings.
Optimized Overlay Clipping for Multimedia Sessions
This release resolves issues where UI elements could appear behind video content in HDX-optimized Microsoft Teams and UCSDK sessions. The previous legacy polling-based approach has been replaced with an efficient graphics-based overlay clipping method, reducing VDA CPU utilization. This feature requires Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 2511 or later.
Browser Profile Sharing in BCR
Browser Content Redirection now manages authentication and cookies on the VDA side, eliminating redundant SSO logins across BCR sessions. Server-side certificate validation is also included. This feature was previously available as a Technical Preview and is now generally available.
For more information, see Browser Profile Sharing.
AI Upscaling with NVIDIA RTX Super Resolution
Citrix Workspace app integrates NVIDIA RTX Super Resolution to upscale transient content on the client device. This reduces bandwidth consumption while maintaining image quality by offloading upscaling to the endpoint GPU. This feature was previously available as a Technical Preview and is now generally available.
For more information, see HDX graphics superresolution upscaling.
Persistent HDX Background Blur — admin controls
The background blur setting now persists across sessions and reconnects. Administrators can set the default blur state and control whether users are allowed to change the setting. Users can enable background blur by navigating to Preferences > Connections and selecting Enable background blur.
Enhanced EDT Lossy Connection support with Secure HDX
The DTLS requirement for EDT lossy connections has been removed. Secure HDX 2.0 is now recognized as a valid encryption method for lossy packets, simplifying the configuration required for EDT lossy connections in environments that use Secure HDX.
Improved Experience with Offline IPP Printers
This release eliminates session launch delays caused by offline IPP printers. Users no longer see a Please wait dialog when an offline IPP printer is present on the endpoint device.
New Shortcut Control Setting
Users can now choose whether system keyboard shortcuts are processed locally on the endpoint or within the virtual session. Changes apply in real time without requiring a session restart. This setting is configurable through the Citrix Workspace app UI, registry, and Group Policy Object (GPO). This feature was previously available only on Citrix Workspace app for Mac.
Enhanced Touch Keyboard Experience
The client-side touch keyboard experience has been improved with intelligent touch keyboard detection (improved auto-show and auto-hide behavior), expanded input support including handwriting, non-CJK characters, and emoji, and improved auto-scroll and session view resize behavior when the keyboard appears.
Enhanced Crash Monitoring for App Protection
Citrix Workspace app now has enhanced ability to monitor and report crashes caused by App Protection DLLs. This enables faster identification and resolution of compatibility issues between App Protection and third-party software on the endpoint.
Improved BCR for Published Browsers
BCR sessions in published Chrome and Edge now persist when switching tabs or changing monitor layouts. Previously, these actions might cause BCR to fall back to server-side rendering. This improvement ensures a consistent and efficient browsing experience in published browser scenarios.
Deprecation of Heavyweight Compression for Printing
Heavyweight compression for printing has been deprecated starting with VDA 2507. Images in print jobs that use heavyweight compression from older VDAs might not print correctly with 64-bit Citrix Workspace app. Customers should ensure that their VDA deployments are updated to use the supported compression methods.
Feature included from 2508.10 release
ARM64 support for USB redirection
USB redirection now supports ARM64 devices, ensuring seamless installation and reliable operation of USB device redirection on modern ARM-based Windows endpoints.
Features included from 2508 release
The following features are added in this release:
Microsoft Teams plugin automatic installation
The Microsoft Teams plugin is now automatically installed during fresh installations and upgrades (including auto-updates) of Citrix Workspace app. The Teams plugin is selected by default in the installer UI. This ensures that users have the optimized Microsoft Teams experience out of the box.
App Protection Health Checker
An App Protection Health Checker is now included as part of the Configuration Checker in Advanced Preferences. This tool helps users and administrators identify App Protection configuration issues. The health checker is enabled by default.
Enable noise suppression
Citrix Workspace app now offers improved audio redirection with enhanced noise suppression. This feature reduces background noise during audio sessions, ensuring clearer and more accurate speech. Noise suppression levels can be configured (None, Low, High) in Preferences > Connections.
Note:
This feature is disabled by default. This feature was previously available as a Technical Preview and is now generally available.
