October 7, 2017

This release includes new features and bug fixes.

The NetScaler MA Service agents are automatically upgraded to build 503.115. You can view the agent details on the Networks > Agents page.

What's New

The following enhancements are available in this release.

Configure Agent Upgrade Time

By default, an agent is upgraded automatically when a newer version is available. However, you can specify the time when you want the agent upgrade to happen. If you select a specific time, the agents are upgraded at that specified time, but in the time zone where your agents are deployed. During the upgrade, there might be a downtime of approximately 30 minutes. To specify the agent upgrade time, navigate to Networks > Agents, click Configure Upgrade Settings, and then specify when you want the agent to be upgraded. For more details, see Configuring Agent Upgrade Settings

Accessing the GUI of a Managed NetScaler Instance from NetScaler MA Service

You can now access the GUI of a managed NetScaler instance from NetScaler MA Service. To manage and monitor NetScaler instances, add them to the NetScaler MA service. You can then access them from the NetScaler MA Service. Make sure that you are connected to the Citrix network.

To access a NetScaler instance GUI from NetScaler MA Service, navigate to Networks > Instances. Under Instances, select the type of instance you want to view (for example, NetScaler VPX), and then click the IP address of the instance that you want to access.

[# 692493]

Support for Grace Period After License Expiry

After the license is expired, NetScaler MA Service provides 90 days of grace period. During the grace period, the data collected by NetScaler MA Service is retained for 30 days, and the configurations are retained for 90 days. During the grace period, you cannot access the NetScaler MA Service.

[# 691069]

Entity-Specific Polling Support

NetScaler MA Service enables you to poll specific entities configured on an instance.  This reduces the refresh time that NetScaler MA Service requires to display the most recent status of the entities bound to an instance. You can now poll the following entities for any update to their status: services, service groups, load balancing virtual servers, cache reduction virtual servers, content switching virtual servers, authentication virtual servers, VPN  virtual servers, GSLB  virtual servers, and application servers. For detailed documentation, see How to Poll NetScaler Instances and Entities.

What's New

The following enhancements are available in this release.

NetScaler Global Load Balancing Solution for Hybrid and Multi-Cloud Deployments

The global load balancing (GLB) solution enables users to distribute the client requests across multiple data centers in multiple clouds and to application servers deployed on premises. This solution supports both multi-cloud and hybrid cloud deployments. The core advantages of this solution are:

  • Enables you to create, manage, and monitor GLB nodes across geographic locations from a single, unified console.
  • Provides the flexibility of moving part of the infrastructure to the cloud.
  • Supports active-passive topology for disaster recovery
  • Supports multiple global load balancing methods, such as Static Proximity, Round Robin, Source IP Hash, and Round-Trip Time.

The associated "Multi-cloud GLB StyleBook" in NetScaler MA Service helps in providing a single user interface for management of all GLB nodes in multiple data centers. Advantages of using a StyleBook are:

  • Changing the existing configuration is easy since the changes need to be done at one place.
  • Pushing the configuration to all the GLB nodes using StyleBooks is faster.

For complete documentation, see NetScaler Global Load Balancing for Hybrid and Multi-Cloud Deployments.

August 10, 2017

This release includes new features and bug fixes.

An upgrade for the NetScaler MA Service agent is available with this refresh. You have to upgrade the agent to build 500.120. For instructions on how to upgrade an agent, see How to Upgrade a NetScaler MA Service Agent.

What's New

The following enhancements are available in this release.

Suppress Syslog Messages in NetScaler MA Service

NetScaler MA Service receives all configured syslogs sent to it by the managed NetScaler instances. Because of large number of syslog messages, the syslogs occupy huge space in the database. Many of these messages may not be of importance to you and you may want to get only the important syslog messages.

You can now suppress some of the syslogs received on NetScaler MA Service by setting up filters. The two filters that you can use to suppress syslogs are severity and facility. You can suppress messages coming from one or more NetScaler instances.

You can also use text patterns to search and suppress messages. NetScaler MA Service drops all messages that match the specified criteria. The dropped syslogs aren’t seen on NetScaler MA Service nor are they stored in the customer database. Therefore, a large amount of space is saved on the storage server.

For more information, see: How to Suppress Syslog Messages in NetScaler MA Service
[# 6779274]

Generate and View Reports of Load Balancing Entities Configured on NetScaler Instances

You can generate reports of load balancing entities, such as virtual servers and services that are configured on managed NetScaler instances. You can view consolidated reports of all the entities. These reports allow you to have a high-level view of the following:

  • NetScaler instances
  • Load balancing virtual servers
  • Admin partitions
  • Services
  • Service groups

The consolidated report helps you to create a mapping among these entities. For more information, see: How to Generate Reports for Load Balancing Entities
[# 663174]

Save Variable Values when a Configuration Job is Saved for Later Execution

When creating configuration jobs, you may specify variable values, but save and execute the job later or schedule the job to run later. In such a scenario, NetScaler MA Service now retains the variable values in saved jobs.
[# 637830]

Support for Customized SSH Port for NetScaler Instances

You can now specify user-defined SSH port for communication between NetScaler MA Service and the NetScaler instances.

To set the SSH port for the instance profiles

  1. Log on to NetScaler MA Service using a supported web browser.
  2. Navigate to Networks and select the instance type of the NetScaler Instance you want to discover in NetScaler MA Service.
  3. Click Profiles.
  4. In the Admin Profiles page, click Add.
  5. In SSH Port, type the configured custom SSH port number for NetScaler Instances to communicate with NetScaler MA Service.
  6. Click OK.

[# 689369]

Fixed Issues

The following issues have been fixed in this release.

Agent

By default, only the super admin user (the first user of your organization to sign up and log on to NetScaler MA Service) has the permission to generate the activation code required to register an agent to the service. A delegated admin (every subsequent user that logs on) does not have the permission to generate the activation code. When a delegated admin clicks Generate Activation Code, the following error appears: "Not Authorized to perform this operation."
[# 690576]

Application Analytics and Management

Application Dashboard in NetScaler MA-Service shows incorrect security metrics for custom-defined applications.
[# 689041]

This is the first release of NetScaler MA Service. For a list of the features available, see Features and Solutions.

The following known issues exist in this release:

Analytics

  • Exporting reports to PDF/JPEG/PNG is not working in NetScaler MA Service. [# 683778]
  • If you enable Insight from NetScaler MA Service, the check mark next to AppFlow does not appear enabled. However, the configuration to enable AppFlow is pushed to NetScaler instances. [# 688309]

Application Analytics and Management

  • If you use Safari browser on Microsoft Windows operating system, App Dashboard and Security Analytics Dashboard do not load. You can see other features of NetScaler MA Service. [# 688617]
  • Application Dashboard in NetScaler MA Service shows incorrect security metrics for custom-defined applications. [# 689041]

Networks

  • If control proxy is not available during agent startup process, the agent cannot retrieve the SNMP trap settings from NetScaler MA Service, and all the traps received from NetScaler instances are dropped.
Workaround: Run "masd restart" on agent when connectivity to NetScaler Management and Analytics Service has been established. [# 687027]
  • You cannot upload a command file while creating a configuration job, though Networks > Configuration Jobs > Create Job displays the option to upload a file. [# 688967]
  • When you configure a rule to monitor specific events in NetScaler MA Service, emails are not sent for the events that match the filter criteria. [# 688985]
