What’s new
What’s new in 2507 LTSR
This release of Citrix Provisioning includes the enhancements described in the following sections. It includes several fixes for issues seen in past releases, and issues that we have identified.
File-based licensing system EOL notification
File-based licensing system, traditionally used for activating various on-premises components, will be End of Life (EOL) on April 15, 2026. License Activation Service (LAS) is the next generation technology for product activations across the suite of Citrix products. LAS will be the only way to activate and license Citrix on-premises components after April 15, 2026. To remain supported, your Citrix Provisioning deployment must be on a LAS compatible version. The minimum required Citrix Provisioning versions that are LAS compatible are:
- Citrix Provisioning 2203 LTSR CU7
- Citrix Provisioning 2402 LTSR CU3
- Citrix Provisioning 2507 LTSR
If you have questions or concerns, contact Customer Care. Citrix might limit or suspend your Citrix Maintenance for non-compliance with these requirements without liability in addition to any other remedies Citrix might have at law or equity. These requirements don’t apply where prohibited by law or regulation.
Support for Citrix Cloud Licensing
Citrix Provisioning licensing has been updated to support the cloud license activation service. If using legacy licensing, you will see no change and will still be entitled to run Citrix Provisioning VDAs based on having either Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops™ or Citrix Provisioning standalone license. However, the following changes have been made to the Citrix Provisioning Configuration Wizard run on every Citrix Provisioning server after installing or upgrading:
- You can no longer skip checking License Server connectivity.
- The License Server is required to be current : the Citrix Workspace™ reports an error if the version you have is too old.
- The licensing tab on the Configuration Wizard is updated to remove the license type (on-premises or cloud) as this is no longer required.
In addition, the license server connectivity is also checked when running the Configuration Wizard silently with an answer file. One new parameter is required in the answer file (the thumbprint of the License Server certificate) if the license server is using a self-signed certificate. See Get started, install, and configure the License Server. When running silently, if the check fails, then the Citrix Workspace fails. You can review the C:\ProgramData\Citrix\Provisioning Services\Logs\Configwizard.log
file to find the error.
In a PoC or small deployment, you can run the license server on one Citrix Provisioning Server machine so long as it is accessible from all Citrix Provisioning Servers. See Get started, install, and configure the License Server for information on configuring firewalls to enable the license server.
Once you switch to using Cloud Licensing in the License Server, Citrix Provisioning™ automatically uses the status of your Citrix Provisioning entitlement in the cloud service to control Citrix Provisioning licensing. If you have no Citrix Provisioning entitlement, it falls back to checking for legacy licenses.
See Licensing.
Enhancement to telemetry data
The telemetry reported by Citrix Provisioning is extended to include information on:
- Whether the Citrix Provisioning farm is joined to Citrix Cloud (DaaS), Citrix Virtual Apps™ and Desktops site or not joined.
- The type of database encryption key management that is used (the telemetry data does not include any information such as encryption keys or other PII data).
For information on telemetry data elements, see Citrix Provisioning telemetry data elements.
Support for Linux streaming target devices
For Linux streaming, the following operating systems are supported:
- RHEL 9.6
- Rocky 9.6
For more information, see Streaming Linux target devices.
