Support for protection against ransomware
To enhance the support for protection against ransomware, the Veritas File System (VxFS) module now provides the following capabilities:
- A new mode called soft Write Once Read Many (WORM) for WORM-enabled files, file systems, and storage checkpoints which lets you reduce or remove the retention period of these entities
- Upgrade of a soft WORM-enabled entity to a WORM-enabled entity (compliance mode)
- Creation of non-modifiable storage checkpoints on WORM-enabled or soft WORM-enabled file systems
- Extension of the retention period of WORM-enabled files and checkpoints beyond the year 2038 up to the year 2106
The minimum software requirements to be able to use these capabilities are:
- InfoScale Foundation, InfoScale Storage, or InfoScale Enterprise 8.0
- Any supported RHEL or SLES distribution
- Disk layout version (DLV) 17
