What’s new in App Layering 4.13
August 17, 2018
This release includes the following features and improvements.
Support for additional platforms versions: We now support the following new versions of Nutanix Acropolis, Citrix XenServer, Citrix PVS, and Citrix Virtual Apps and Citrix Virtual Desktops:
- Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor (AHV), version 5.8
- Citrix XenServer, version 7.5
- Citrix PVS, version 7.18
- Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop, version 7.18
Support for Azure Premium Storage: The Azure connector now supports placing packaging disks and published images into Premium storage accounts. (UNI-51247)
Clone an Image Template: In the Image tab, there is a new option on the Action bar and also in the context menu, to clone templates. (UNI-53083)
Postpone Upgrade Reminder: There is a new button on the Upgrade Notification dialog called “Remind Me Later”. Clicking this button stops you from seeing the Upgrade Notification Dialog for 7 days. The setting is applied to each user individually. (UNI-67407)
Labs features in this release
Labs features are previews of potential functionality for future releases. While a feature is in Labs, do not use it in production. There is no guarantee that a Labs feature will become part of the product, nor that the feature will work as originally designed if and when it is released.
The Labs features available in this release include the following:
-
Full User Layer: User layers let you persist user profile settings, data, and user-installed applications in non-persistent VDI environments. This feature is supported in Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 10 64-bit environments.
-
App layers can be assigned as elastic layers on layered images that use a different OS layer: Until now, Elastic layer assignments required that the app layer assigned use the same OS layer that was used to create the App layer. Now you can try assigning an app layer as an Elastic layer on a layered image that uses a different OS layer.
Important:
There is no guarantee that an App layer can work on a different OS layer than the one used to create it. If there are issues, you can disable this feature and allow the app layer to be used only with the OS that you used to create the layer.
To use a Labs feature, enable it first.
