deviceTRUST® debug log locations

To assist us in troubleshooting deviceTRUST related issues you may be required by support to collect debug log information from your environment. Below is a list of deviceTRUST log file locations for each component.

Microsoft Windows logs

For the deviceTRUST Client Extension, Agent and Console:

On Microsoft Windows, the deviceTRUST components log to an Event Tracing for Windows (.etl) file in the following location:

  • C:\ProgramData\deviceTRUST\Diagnostics\Logs\deviceTRUST-Log-xx.etl

    Note:

This file can be copied and provided to Support.

Logging is enabled by default. Log files are cyclic and will overwrite when their max size is reached. It is therefore important that the log file is captured shortly after reproduction of an issue. The default etl log file size is 1GB.

Windows component installer logs

For the deviceTRUST Client Extension

The deviceTRUST Client Extension installer executable logs installation activity to %AppData%\Local\Temp:

  • deviceTRUST_Client_Extension_v23.1_20250113094950.log
  • deviceTRUST_Client_Extension_v23.1_20250113094950_dtclient_extension_x64.msi.log
  • deviceTRUST_Client_Extension_v23.1_20250113094950_dtclient_extension_x86.msi.log

Note:

This file can be copied and provided to Support.

For the deviceTRUST Agent and Console

When troubleshooting installation issues for the deviceTRUST Agent or Console, MSI logs can be generated with msiexec.

For example, from an elevated CMD prompt run the commands below to create an MSI log file capturing the install activity. The MSI and location information should be customised to your environment.

  • msiexec /i "dtagent-x64-release-23.1.410.0.msi" /l*v "C:\Temp\Agent.log"
  • msiexec /i "dtconsole-x64-release-23.1.410.0.msi" /l*v "C:\Temp\Console.log"

Note:

This file can be copied and provided to Support.

Amazon WorkSpaces logging

When troubleshooting deviceTRUST Virtual Channel issues on Amazon WorkSpace, in conjunction with deviceTRUST debug log information we also require Level 3 logs to be enabled on the Amazon WorkSpace and for the connecting Amazon WorkSpace client.

The verbosity level of these logs are required to assist deviceTRUST in troubleshooting issues, this is the minimum log level expected by Amazon Support if an issue is referred.

To enable these logging options please see refer to the Amazon Documentation using the links below.
