Tech Brief: Global App Configuration Service Settings and Behaviors FAQ

  • Contributed By: Balabhaskar V Special Thanks To: Steve Beals, Prashant Yadav Debangshu Roy, Manju Annie Oommen

Overview

The Global App Configuration Service (GACS) provides a centralized mechanism for enterprise IT admins to easily configure, distribute, and manage user settings for Citrix Workspace app across all devices - managed and unmanaged devices.
The service can be used to manage settings on both cloud and on-premises environments, that is, Citrix Workspace and Citrix StoreFront settings via the GACS User Interface on Citrix Cloud portal or the GACS APIs.
For more details on the service, read the Global App Config Service Tech Brief.

Since this service supports several platforms, IT admins often would want to know the triggers that cause settings refresh on the client apps and if there exists any precedence in applying the settings if there is conflicting configurations managed over third party MDM or any other management tools for managed devices. This tech brief tries to address these areas.

The following sections address specific concerns that Admins commonly have per platform and provide quick access to relevant information.

How and When are settings applied through GACS refreshed on the client side?
