What’s New in 2507
Citrix VDA for macOS had GAed for CVAD since CR2503, for this 2507 release, we had done intensive integration tests with the latest LTSR 2507, to ensure customers who prefer to use LTSR will have a smooth experience deploying macOS VDA during their upgrade to the new LTSR. Alongside, this release we also added many exciting features:
i-device redirection
Apple application developers now empowered by this new capability where iPhones and iPads can be redirected to macOS VDA from Citrix Workspace™ app. Making developers and testers to debug and troubleshoot apps on physical devices, providing a valuable addition to Xcode provided simulators, with security policies in consideration to be configured, enterprises now can more efficiently organize their developer workflow.
IBTL (Intelligent Build to Lossless) support in macOS VDA
IBTL improves end user graphics experience, meanwhile, significantly reduce enterprise admin workload by eliminating reconfigure
Graphics Policies
IBTL was released in Windows VDA 2503 release, now macOS VDA also support this capability by providing intelligent Build-to-lossless in multi-monitors scenario without the need of intervention from administrator, the implementation of IBTL is based on Apple Silicon high performance H.265 (HEVC) encoder that further reduces bandwidth consumption
HDX™ Direct V2
We delivered HDX Direct “V1” which support Citrix Workspace app users connected from enterprise intranet since 2503, now in this release we fully support the V2 version where enable users connect from anywhere; with this feature, by connecting VDA directly with CWA end points without mediating from the management plane during session traffic, end user experience is greatly enhanced.
Secure ICA 2.0 support
Security is always our top priority in design macOS VDA, now using the up-to-date Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) cipher for ICA® transport, end-to-end encryption (E2EE) between the Citrix Workspace App (CWA) and the VDA is achieved. This means that no intermediate network elements (including the Citrix Gateway) are able to decrypt the ICA traffic.
Lock Screen support
As some of our customer has the need of enable macOS Lock Screen for security/privacy considerations, we now added this capability from VDA engine so enterprise can enable this capability based on policy settings configured.
Multiple audio feature enhancement
Now audio volume level set in Citrix Workspace app can be synchronized to macOS VDA session; AQE and audio diagnostic tool also undergo significant improvements in this release, we also did optimization for audio under TCP (Preview).
For NetScaler® users
HDX insight is also supported, please refer to the article for more details regarding configure HDX insight (and smart control capability) under Secure HDX.
30 Days re-auth
Enhancement to optimize admin workflow like 30-days re-auth is automated by macOS VDA
Meanwhile, this release contains significant performance improvement (thanks to IBTL is now supported and enabled) with many critical issues being fixed. For more information on the new features, see the corresponding related sections.
