Device configuration

Every OU and every device has a device configuration: the complete set of settings UniconOS Management sends to its UniconOS devices, from network and display settings to security and firmware options. By default, a device configuration is inherited from the base configuration down through the OU tree to the device. At each level you can break this inheritance and define independent settings.

To open the device configuration for an OU, use its context menu, see Actions for OUs. For a single device, use the device’s context menu, see Actions for devices.

Device configuration

  • Device configuration and Advanced device configuration are two separate tabs. This topic and its child topics cover Device configuration. For Advanced device configuration, see Dynamic device configuration.
  • Use parent device configuration shows whether this OU or device currently inherits its settings. For an OU or a device, turn this off to define independent settings. The base configuration has no parent and no such switch.
  • Click Edit to change settings, then Apply (base configuration or an OU) or Apply settings (a device) to save them. Changes reach devices with their next configuration update from Scout.
  • Search fields and values filters the list of sections on the left to the ones containing a matching field name or value.
  • The Options menu offers configuration-level actions such as exporting or importing a configuration.
