Build to Lossless

Build to Lossless is a special Thinwire configuration that optimizes graphics delivery for interactivity and final image quality. You can enable this setting by setting the Visual quality policy to Build to Lossless.

Build to Lossless is designed to be as lightweight as possible, and will disable most of the Thinwire image analysis performed in regular selective encoding. It employs a “fuzzy-first” approach, assuming a lossy codec will give better performance for moving images and when movement has stopped will gradually build up to a guaranteed lossless image.

Build to Lossless compresses the screen using the selected video codec (AV1, H.265 or H.264) during screen activity and sharpens to pixel perfect (lossless) when activity stops. The lossy image quality adapts to available resources to maintain the best possible frame rate. The sharpening step is performed gradually, radiating outwards from the mouse cursor. This allows for an immediate response if the user begins screen activity shortly after sharpening starts. For example, selecting a model and rotating it.

With regular Build to Lossless, all monitors will operate in Build to Lossless mode when enabled. If you are looking for the ability to run Build to Lossless on select monitors, please refer to our new Intelligent Build to Lossless feature below. [insert link to Intelligent Build to Lossless]
