Cumulative Update 7 (CU7)
Release date: August 28, 2025
What’s new
Support for Citrix Cloud Licensing
PVS licensing has been updated to support the cloud license activation service. Customers currently using legacy licensing should see no change and will still be entitled to run PVS VDAs based on having either CVAD or PVS standalone license. However, two important changes have been made to the PVS Configuration Wizard run on every PVS server after installing/upgrading:
- You can no longer skip checking License Server connectivity.
- The License Server is required to be current - the CW will report an error if the version you have is too old.
The licensing tab on the configuration wizard has been updated to remove the license type (on-premise or cloud) as this is no longer required.
In addition, the license server connectivity is also checked when running the configuration wizard silently with an answer file. One new parameter is required in the answer file: the thumbprint of the LS certificate IF the license server is using a self-signed certificate (see Manually install a certificate used by the Citrix Licensing Manager and Web Services for Licensing). When running silently, if the check fails, then the CW fails. You can review the C:\ProgramData\Citrix\Provisioning Services\Logs\Configwizard.log
file to find the error.
In a POC or small deployment, you can run the license server on one PVS Server machine so long as it is accessible from ALL PVS servers (see Firewall considerations for information on configuring firewalls to enable the license server).
Once you switch to using Cloud Licensing in the License Server, PVS will automatically use the status of your PVS Entitlement in the cloud service to control PVS licensing. If you have no PVS entitlement, it will fall back to checking for legacy licenses.
