Create Hybrid Azure AD joined catalogs

This article describes how to create Hybrid Azure AD joined catalogs using Citrix Provisioning.

Key steps:

Create a master target device and join it to Azure AD.
Run Imaging Wizard to create a vDisk.
Create target devices using Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops Setup Wizard.
Wait for approximately 90 minutes for the target devices to complete Hybrid Azure AD join.

Create a master target device

Before creating the vDisk, you must create a master target device, and join it to Azure AD. To do this:

Set up Hybrid Azure AD and enable Microsoft Entra Connect Sync on the Domain Controller. For more information, see Configure Microsoft Entra hybrid join.
Set up a master target device and join it to Azure AD.
Check the Azure AD joining status of the master target device using one of the following ways:
- Using PowerShell commands:
  1. Open a PowerShell window.
  2. Run dsregcmd /status | more command. If the master target device is Azure AD joined, then the values of AzureADJoined and DomainJoined must be YES.
- You can also use the DeviceId and compare the status on the service using either the Microsoft Entra admin center or PowerShell. For more information, see the Microsoft documents Using the Microsoft Entra admin center and Using PowerShell.

Note:

The join time can vary. However, the master target device must join within 90 minutes.

Run Imaging Wizard to create a vDisk

Use the Imaging Wizard to create the vDisk from the master target device. For more information, see Using the Imaging Wizard to create a virtual disk.

While running Image Wizard to create a vDisk, select Prepare for Hybrid Azure AD join in the Edit Optimization Settings dialog if you want to create a Hybrid Azure AD joined catalog.

Create target devices using Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops Setup Wizard

After the target devices are created, you can see the Citrix Provisioning catalog in the DaaS Studio.

Wait for the target devices to complete Hybrid Azure AD join

Complete creating delivery groups. For information, see Create delivery groups.
After approximately 90 minutes, locate the delivery group in the Delivery Group list, and check the Details tab. When the target devices complete Hybrid Azure AD join, the value of the Unregistered Machines must be zero.
