Multiple gateway instances in the same network can form a cluster. Communication between the instances is secured by a cluster key:

Before you change a cluster key, make sure that at least one other instance uses the new cluster key.

By default, new instances are not clustered. When a new gateway instance is installed as a VM (.ova), a unique database password and a unique cluster key are generated. Both should be changed only to form a cluster.

Note:

Clustering of instances is not supported in the Debian variant of the SCG (< SCG 1 2209).
