Features in Technical Preview

Features in Technical Preview are available to use in non-production or limited production environments, and to give customers an opportunity to share feedback. Citrix does not accept support cases for features in technical preview but welcomes feedback for improving them. Citrix might act on feedback based on its severity, criticality, and importance.

Enable Audio Quality Enhancer to improve audio performance

Technical Preview from 2409 release Feedback form

Starting with the 2409 version, Audio Quality Enhancer (v1) is added for adaptive audio.

Audio Quality Enhancer effectively manages short periods of packet loss and disruptions by intelligently reconstructing speech from previous samples, thus preventing noticeable degradation in audio and call quality. Audio Quality Enhancer optimizes audio playback and recording quality in both good and bad network conditions.

Enabling the Audio Quality Enhancer feature

To enable Audio Quality Enhancer, complete the following steps:

On the client:

  1. Enable Adaptive Audio.
  2. Enable Loss Tolerant Mode for Audio.
  3. Enable the feature:

    • Navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Citrix\ICA Client\Engine\Configuration\Advanced\Modules\ClientAudio] registry and edit as follows:
    • Set EnablePLC=string:1
  4. Restart Citrix Workspace app to apply the new settings.

On the VDA:

To fully enable this feature, you must enable Audio Quality Enhancer on the VDA. Audio Quality Enhancer needs to be enabled on both the VDA and Citrix Workspace app sides to function end-to-end for audio playback and recording.

Disabling the Audio Quality Enhancer feature

To disable the Audio Quality Enhancer feature, complete the following steps:

On the client:

  1. Disable the feature:

    1. Navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Citrix\ICA Client\Engine\Configuration\Advanced\Modules\ClientAudio] registry and edit as follows:
    2. Set EnablePLC=string:0
  2. Restart Citrix Workspace app to apply the new settings.

On the VDA:

To fully disable the feature, disable Audio Quality Enhancer on the VDA.

Browser Content Redirection and Microsoft Teams Optimization support for ARM64 based devices

Technical Preview from 2405 release Feedback form

From the 2405 release, Citrix Workspace app for Windows supports the following features on the ARM64 based devices.

The prerequisites and system requirements remain the same as installing the app on other architectures. As part of the Citrix Workspace app for Windows installation, the Browser Content Redirection and Microsoft Teams Optimization also get installed.

Quick Launch of Disconnected Desktops

Technical Preview from 2209 release Feedback form

By enabling this feature, you can open your previously disconnected desktops instantly. Once this feature is enabled, Citrix Workspace app launches the disconnected sessions in hidden mode. The session is instantly presented as soon as you launch the desktop.

Local App Protection

Technical Preview from 2210 release Feedback form

App Protection offers enhanced security to defend our customers against Keyloggers, accidental and malicious screen capture at endpoints. Currently, App Protection capabilities are only offered for Workspace resources. With Local App Protection, App Protection capabilities are extended to local apps on endpoints. Starting with Citrix Workspace app 2210 for Windows, App Protection can be applied to local apps on Windows devices.
