Client management and onboarding

New devices are configured to the gateway via the First Configuration Wizard.

The devices can be enabled to connect via intranet and via Internet,depending on where the user is located. For this, we recommend that you set up the network configuration in a way that the Scout Server name is resolved internally to the Scout Server and externally to the Scout Cloud Gateway. Users then only have to enter their logon data for the gateway the first time they use their devices outside the intranet. For further information, see General network settings.

Once successfully connected via the Scout Cloud Gateway, the devices remain connected to the gateway and retain their SCG configuration even in the following cases:

  • A factory reset for the device is performed The option Delete Scout Server address must not be selected.
  • Firmware update The option Format system partition before update may be selected.

Note:

If a device is connected via SCG, this information may be displayed in the Scout Console in the Properties window, as well as the SCG address (ab Scout 15 2209 und eLux RP 6 2209). These fields can also be used for creating records.
