Cumulative Update 3 (CU3)

Citrix Director

  • Once a session is established, the display name of the machine in the Machine Details page on Citrix Director reverts to the Delivery Group name.

Citrix Policy

  • With this fix, multiple memory issues have been fixed.
  • The policy setting value might appear as Kpbs instead of Kbps.

Delivery Controller™

  • If Site aggregation or delivery groups with specific broker policies are enabled, starting an application or a desktop creates a new session instead of reconnecting to an existing one.
  • Attempts to create an MCS machine catalog might fail when HTTPS port 443 is in use.
  • When the reserved memory is lesser than the configured memory, attempts to power on a virtual machine might fail with this error message:
    Invalid memory setting: Memory reservation (sched.mem.min) should be equal to memsize (94208). The virtual machine failed to start. Failed to turn on the MemSched module. Error parsing scheduler-specific configuration parameters.
  • Citrix Broker Service (Brokerservice.exe) might exit unexpectedly after disconnecting from the License Server.
  • This fix improves the overall performance of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 2203 LTSR.
  • With this fix, NT5DS is the default time synchronization protocol in scenarios where:
    1. The master image is non-domain-joined (NDJ) and
    2. During MCS provisioning, you select the VM to be Active Directory (AD) or Hybrid Azure Active Directory (HAAD)
  • With this fix, you can change the network setting for an existing provisioning scheme so that the new VMs are created on the new subnetwork. Use the parameter -NetworkMapping in the Set-ProvScheme command to change the network setting. For more information, see Change the network setting for an existing provisioning scheme.

Federated Authentication Service

  • You're unable to install the VDA on a Windows 11 desktop. You get the following error:
    Installation of the Citrix Authentication Identity Assertion VDA Plug-in failed with error code 1603.

Licensing

  • The Citrix Studio (Licensing Admin PowerShell snap-in) might fail to communicate with the Licensing servers only when strong cipher suites are allowed.

Microsoft Teams Optimization

  • The HTML5 Video Redirection Service (CtxHdxWebSocketService) might exit unexpectedly.

Metainstaller

  • The Delivery Controller installer is missing the command line option /No_Pending_Reboot_Check in the 2203 LTSR version, which was available in the 1912 versions.
  • When you upgrade a VDA, the registry key setting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\Graphics\SetDisplayRequiredMode might be deleted.
  • Attempts to upgrade a VDA to version 2203 LTSR CU2 might fail.

Security Issues

  • This fix addresses a security issue. For more information, see Knowledge Center article CTX559370.

Universal Print Server

Server

  • Citrix XTE Service might exit unexpectedly on the Universal Print Server causing the print jobs to remain stuck in the queue.
  • The EMFPrint.exe process might exit unexpectedly on Citrix Universal Print Server 2203.

VDA for single-session OS

Installing, Uninstalling, Upgrading

  • Attempts to upgrade a VDA from version 1912 LTSR CU3 to version 2203 LTSR CU2 might fail.
  • This fix introduces a command-line option /no_pending_reboot_check that prevents checking for a pending restart from a previous Windows installation on the machine when installing or upgrading core components.
  • With this fix, the VUA tool compares the version major while performing upgrades enabling CU release upgrades. You can now perform LTSR upgrades like 2203.0.0.x to 2203.0.1000.x (CU1).
  • With the Enable restore on failure feature enabled, the restore points might not be created during the upgrade or installation of the VDAs.

Keyboard

  • The virtual keyboard might not appear automatically in a published application when you place the cursor in an editable field.

Session/Connection

  • Attempts to print a document from Citrix Universal™ Print Server on the shared session printers might fail. The issue occurs after upgrading to Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 1912 LTSR CU4.
  • The Microsoft Teams redirection key MSTeamsRedirSupport under the registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Citrix\HDXMediaStream might be missing when you reconnect to a user device through a user session. The issue occurs when an RDP session is still existing.
  • Attempts to reconnect to a session might fail.
  • When you take over your currently connected user session from a local console of a physical VDA, all or some displays that are attached to the physical VDA might remain in power saving mode.
  • Attempts to install a VDA version 2203 might fail when the Windows system doesn’t have a C drive.
  • After you upgrade a VDA to version 2203, the Skype for Business app might become unresponsive at the splash screen.
  • When you plug in a monitor, the seamless window might disappear.
  • In a double-hop scenario, you might see two extra unused webcams during the first hop.
  • On VDA version 2203 running on Microsoft Windows 10 version 21H2, the Windows Start menu might display an empty box instead of the Power > Disconnect option.
  • The ICA® service might not open on non-domain-joined and non-English Windows 10 H2 VDAs.
  • With this fix, the bidirectional content redirection supports the use of wildcards when defining the URLs to be redirected. For more information, see Wildcard redirection from Citrix VDA to client.
  • Attempts to share certain custom applications using optimized Microsoft Teams might fail.
  • With shellbridge enabled, all the startup programs are launched in an HDX™ published application session. Signing out of an application might prevent a graceful logoff. If the issue persists, set the value as 0 in the following registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\Citrix Virtual Desktop Agent
    Name: Shellbridge
    Type: REG_DWORD
    Value: 0
  • The pooled machines that are ON might be powered off automatically and become unregistered. [
  • When audio devices are added to a user session, you cannot hear sounds from any of the devices except the sounds of Skype for Business. This error message appears:
    Error - no more device slots available - failed to add the device.
    The issue occurs when more than eight playback or record devices are attached to an endpoint.

System Exceptions

  • The CseEngine.exe service might consume higher memory than expected on the VDAs.
  • Citrix HDX RAVE Service (CtxSvcHost.exe) might exit unexpectedly.
  • When you start a published desktop, open File Explorer and click the redirected local C drive under Network > \Client, the File Explorer might exit unexpectedly.
  • Attempts to reconnect to a VDA session might fail intermittently after upgrading to Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops version 2203 LTSR or 2203 LTSR CU1.
  • VDAs might experience a fatal exception on tdica.sys and display a blue screen. The issue occurs when you are attempting to reconnect to a session.
  • VDAs might encounter a bug check code, 000000CA if a USB device is inserted and removed quickly.
  • Attempts to enable SSL on VDAs might fail when the certificate template is created with Key Storage Provider as the Cryptography provider.
  • The DllHost.exe process might exit unexpectedly with this error message:
    COM Surrogate is not working anymore
  • During session launch, VDAs might experience a fatal exception on ControlUP Custom Virtual Channel Initialization and display a blue screen.
  • The HTML5 Video Redirection Service (CtxHdxWebSocketService) might exit unexpectedly.
  • The Citrix software graphics process (Ctxgfx.exe) might consume excessive non-paged memory on the VDAs causing the virtual machines to become unresponsive.
  • When you open a published application in minimized or full-screen mode, a black screen might appear. The issue occurs when you upgrade a VDA from 1912 LTSR to 2203 LTSR versions CU1 or CU2.

User Experience

  • Multiple attempts to copy content from the Microsoft Access application might fail as the paste button in the application gets disabled.
  • When you sign in from Citrix Gateway and LDAP SSO Name Attribute is set to UserPrincipalName, the Citrix watermark might display the sign-in name incorrectly.

VDA for multi-session OS

Installing, Uninstalling, Upgrading

  • With this fix, the VUA tool compares the version major while performing upgrades enabling CU release upgrades. You can now perform LTSR upgrades like 2203.0.0.x to 2203.0.1000.x (CU1).

Keyboard

  • The virtual keyboard might not appear automatically in a published application when you place the cursor in an editable field.
  • When you open 2 instances of an application and set the DisableToggler setting to five seconds, you might have to wait for about 30 seconds before typing in the second application.

Printing

  • On Mac clients, the printer’s default paper size might not be retained after you log off and log back in.

Session/Connection

  • The CseEngine.exe service might consume higher memory than expected on the VDAs.
  • Attempts to print a document from Citrix Universal Print Server on the shared session printers might fail. The issue occurs after upgrading to Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 1912 LTSR CU4.
  • When you start an application from a VDA as an anonymous user, this error message might appear:
    Incorrect username and password.
  • Attempts to install a VDA version 2203 might fail when the Windows system doesn’t have a C drive.
  • When you start a published desktop, open File Explorer and click the redirected local C drive under Network > \Client, the File Explorer might exit unexpectedly.
  • Attempts to enable SSL on VDAs might fail when the certificate template is created with Key Storage Provider as the Cryptography provider.
  • Citrix Director version 2203 might display Interactive Session details of the published app launch, such as Userinit and Shell, on a single line instead of separate lines.
  • The drag-and-drop operation might fail when you hover from one seamless window to another.
  • Attempts to share certain custom applications using optimized Microsoft Teams might fail.
  • The CtxRaveSvc.exe service might become unresponsive and not receive session change notifications from Remote Desktop Services.
  • The WebSocketService.exe process might consume higher memory than expected on the VDAs.
  • When you open a published application in minimized or full-screen mode, a black screen might appear. The issue occurs when you upgrade a VDA from 1912 LTSR to 2203 LTSR versions CU1 or CU2.
  • The pooled machines that are ON might be powered off automatically and become unregistered. [

System Exceptions

  • The session reliability feature causes reconnects during which the VDA might experience fatal exceptions and display a blue screen.
  • Citrix HDX RAVE Service (CtxSvcHost.exe) might exit unexpectedly.
  • The Microsoft Windows winlogon.exe process might exit unexpectedly causing sessions to close. The issue occurs because of the faulting icagfxstack.dll module when you upgrade a VDA from version 1912 LTSR CU4 to 2203 LTSR.
  • The Terminal Services process might exit unexpectedly because of the faulting module, RPM.dll.
  • VDAs might encounter a bug check code, 000000CA if a USB device is inserted and removed quickly.
  • The DllHost.exe process might exit unexpectedly with this error message:
    COM Surrogate is not working anymore
  • The Service Host (svchost.exe) process might consume higher memory than expected on a VDA for multi-session OS when the UiPath Remote Runtime component is installed.
  • During session launch, VDAs might experience a fatal exception on ControlUP Custom Virtual Channel Initialization and display a blue screen.
  • The WebSocketAgent.exe service might exit unexpectedly when you attempt to play a YouTube video with browser content redirection enabled.
  • The HTML5 Video Redirection Service (CtxHdxWebSocketService) might exit unexpectedly.
  • The Citrix software graphics process (Ctxgfx.exe) might consume excessive non-paged memory on the VDAs causing the virtual machines to become unresponsive.

User Experience
