Thinwire Configuration
Thinwire can operate in different graphics encoding modes depending on its configuration. The main configuration policy for Thinwire is the ‘Use Video Codec for Compression’ policy.
-
Use when preferred (default)
-
For actively changing regions
-
For the Entire screen
-
Do not use a video codec
The sections below will describe each mode in more detail.
| Use a video codec for compression setting | Text | Images | Moving images and videos | Use cases |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Use when preferred (GPU) | Lossless | JPEG | Intelligent Build to Lossless / Video Codec* | Default for most most workloads, including graphically intensive applications |
| Use when preferred (no GPU) | Lossless | JPEG | Video Codec | Default for most workloads |
| For actively changing regions | Lossless | JPEG | Video Codec | |
| For the entire screen | Video Codec | Video Codec | Video Codec | Graphically intensive applications like gaming, when Build to Lossless is not preferred |
| Do not use a video codec | Lossless | JPEG | Adaptive JPEG | When image quality is preferred over session interactivity. Best scalability due to minimized GPU utilization |
*Intelligent Build to Lossless is used only when certain conditions are met.
For most use cases, leaving the Thinwire configuration as default will result in the best performance and display quality.
