Citrix DaaS™

Nutanix virtualization environments

Connect Citrix DaaS™ to Nutanix AHV clusters through Nutanix Prism Central using Nutanix AHV Prism Central host connection. This host connection:

  • Supports machine catalogs with both power managed and MCS provisioned VDAs.
  • Enables MCS master image sharing across AHV clusters using template versions.
  • Simplifies certificate trust on host connection.
  • Eliminates the need of Nutanix plug-in installation on Cloud Connectors.

See Nutanix Prism Central on AHV.

You can also use Nutanix Prism Element on AHV using Nutanix Acropolis as the host connection to provide VMs in your Citrix DaaS deployment. However, this setup process requires installing and registering the Nutanix plug-in in your Citrix DaaS environment. See Nutanix Prism Element on AHV.

For more information on the Nutanix Acropolis MCS plug-in Installation guide, see Nutanix Support Portal.

Nutanix Prism Central on AHV

Citrix has developed and maintains a plug-in that integrates Citrix with Nutanix Prism Central on AHV. This plug-in is integrated with Citrix Delivery Controllers, eliminating the need for separate plug-in installations.

The Nutanix AHV Prism Central plug-in is pre-installed on Delivery Controllers managed by Citrix in Citrix DaaS, eliminating the need for separate installation on Cloud Connectors. For information on Citrix-managed components and services, see Components and services managed by Citrix.

Prerequisites

You need the following for Nutanix AHV Prism Central:

  • Prism Central version pc.2024.3 or later.
  • AOS version 6.10 or later for the Nutanix AHV clusters.
  • Nutanix AHV clusters must register to the Prism Central.
  • The Citrix administrator account must have sufficient permissions to create host connections, machine catalogs, and delivery groups. For more information, see Configure Delegated Administration.
  • Citrix Cloud™ communicates with Nutanix Prism Central through the Cloud Connector. Therefore, the Nutanix Prism Central instance must be accessible from the Cloud Connector.

Key steps

  1. Set up your Nutanix virtualization environments. For information, see Add a resource type or Activate an unused domain.
  2. Create a connection to the Nutanix AHV Prism Central
  3. Create a machine catalog using Nutanix machine template version.

Nutanix Prism Element on AHV

Nutanix Prism Element on AHV requires installing the Nutanix plug-in on all Cloud Connectors where Citrix DaaS must create a host connection to the resource location that has a Nutanix hypervisor.

Key steps

  1. Install and register the Nutanix plug-in.
  2. Set up your Nutanix virtualization environments. For information, see Add a resource type or Activate an unused domain.
  3. Create a connection.
  4. Create a machine catalog.

Install and register the Nutanix plug-in

Complete the procedure to install and register the Nutanix plug-in on all your Cloud Connectors. For information about installing the Nutanix plug-in, see the Nutanix Documentation site.
