Simulate policies using the Policy Modeling wizard
Use policy modeling to simulate how enabled policies with filters apply to specific users or machines. This feature helps you test policy behavior and plan your configurations before deploying them.
Note:
- The Modeling tab is available only if enabled by customer request.
- Only enabled policies with filters are modeled. Disabled policies are never applied and enabled policies without filters are always applied.
Run the Policy Modeling wizard
To run a simulation, follow these steps:
- In Studio, select Policies.
- Select the Modeling tab.
- Select Policy Modeling in the action bar.
- Read the Introduction page and click Next.
- Select users or computers. Alternatively, you can browse for containers or specific users or computers. Click Next.
- Choose your filter evidence. You can optionally get more granular with your simulation by entering more details, such as Delivery group, Tags, Client IP address, and more. Click Next.
- Review the summary and click Run.
View the modeling results
After the wizard runs, it generates a report of the modeling results. With the report, you can:
- View All settings, Computer settings, or User settings in the drop-down menu.
- Search for specific settings.
- Click a setting to see why it was or wasn’t applied
- Export results in JSON or HTML format.
More options
After running a simulation, the following options are available:
- View Modeling Report: Review or export results
- Rerun Policy Modeling: Run again using the same criteria
- Delete Modeling Report: Remove the current report
