Fixed issues

Jun 12, 2017

The following issues have been fixed since Version 7.13:

Fixed issues from 7.14 to 7.14.1

Use the 7.14.1 ISO and VDAs to install or upgrade your deployment.

IMPORTANT: If you already installed or upgraded your deployment with the original 7.14 ISO and VDAs, download the 7.14.1 ISO and VDAs, and use them to upgrade your deployment.

The 7.14.1 versions contain fixes for the following issues that might have occurred in the original 7.14 version.

  • After an upgrade, Director displays a Central Configuration Service alert.

[#DNA-43728]

  • Published applications might fail to launch.

[#HDX-9224]

  • When using a machine catalog in Azure with write back cache enabled, VDAs fail to register with a Delivery Controller.

[#DNA-43545]

  • A Citrix Receiver logon delay occurs when the “Wait for printers to be created (server desktop)” policy setting is enabled.

[#HDX-9358]

  • An upgrade stops with the message “Failed to upload database scripts” and the site is inoperable. This issue requires manual intervention before upgrading the Controllers and VDAs to 7.14.1. See Known issues.

[#DNA-43730]

For more information about the 7.14.1 and 7.14 software, see What’s new and Known issues.

App-V

  • The Delivery Controller for XD 7.6 CU3 does not allow the App-V Management Server URL and the Publishing Server URL to be specified in IP format (such as http://172.16.56.185:8080/).

    [#DNA-37971]

  • If an App-V application in an isolation group does not close down properly, future launches that depend on other applications assigned to an isolation group with that application might fail.

    [#DNA-24270]

  • When you have multiple App-V packages with the same package ID but different version IDs, and add an application from one of those packages to a Delivery Group, applications from the other packages also appear to be assigned to that Delivery Group in the Studio App-V Publishing node. The applications from other packages are not actually added to the Delivery Group.

    [#DNA-23490]

Citrix Director

  • Attempts to reset the Citrix user profile using Citrix Director might fail, resulting in the following error message:
"The reset process could not be initiated."
The issue occurs when Citrix Director sends only the user name instead of sending the user name along with the domain name. As a result, the Citrix Broker Service fails to locate the user in the DDC domain.

    [#LC6681]
  • The table data on the Filters > Application Instances page can be incomplete when you apply filters: data related to some application instances might be missing.

    [#DNA-28603]
  • The table data on the Trends > Sessions page can be incomplete: data related to some sessions might be missing.

    [#DNA-28604]

Citrix Policy

  • The w3wp.exe process can consume 100% of the CPU.

    [#LC4355]

Citrix Studio

  • If you remove an existing published App-V package from Citrix Studio and attempt to add a different version of the same App-V package with the same name and publishing location to the Delivery Group, the package might enumerate with a red exclamation point and the following error message appears:

"Failed to load application data for the application "APPLICATION NAME""

    [#LC6254]

  • Attempts to publish an App-V package that contains certain third-party applications with multiple file type associations might fail, resulting in the following error message:

"Cannot validate argument on parameter 'ExtensionName'. The character length of the 28 argument is too long. Shorten the character length of the argument so it is fewer than or equal to "16" characters, and then try the command again."

The issue occurs when you attempt to add the App-V package to Citrix Studio.

    [#LC6507]

  • Attempts to add a Delivery Controller in a mirrored database setup by using the option to add an additional controller from Citrix Studio and the PowerShell command "Add-XDController" might fail.

    [#LC6563]

  • When you attempt to add virtual machines to a Citrix Provisioning Services catalog in Citrix Studio, the following error message might appear:

"The machine "virtual machine name” is already in a Machine Catalog."

    [#LC6944]

  • When upgrading a XenApp Site, the license model might change from XenApp to XenDesktop unexpectedly.

    [#LC6981]

  • The "Start-Transcript" command might fail for "Get-XDSite" and other XenDesktop high level administrative PoSH commands when run in PowerShell 5.

    [#LC7006]

Controller

  • Extraneous characters might appear at the end of "Service Display Name" and "Service description" of certain Citrix services installed on a Japanese operating system.

    [#LC5208]

  • After restarting the Citrix Monitoring Service or the Citrix Delivery Controller, event id 1013 might appear:

"Initial database housekeeping failed with: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

The issue occurs when the Citrix Monitor Service is stopping.

    [#LC6438]

  • The Configuration Logging Service might consume high memory, causing the Delivery Controller to become unresponsive.

    [#LC6480]

  • Attempts to use certain third-party applications such as RayStation on a Citrix Delivery Controller might fail and the following error message appears:

"The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state."

    [#LC6552]

  • Attempts to add a Delivery Controller in a mirrored database setup by using the option to add an additional controller from Citrix Studio and the PowerShell command "Add-XDController" might fail.

    [#LC6563]

  • Attempts to delete virtual machines that are created by Machine Creation Services can cause Citrix Studio to become unresponsive.

    [#LC6581]

  • When using version 7.12 of Machine Creation Services to create VMs, XenTools fails to be installed, preventing graceful shutdown of the VMs.

    [#LC6769]

  • Permissions to publish App-V packages might be denied for administrators who do not have full permission with the following exception:

"Citrix.Console.Models.Exceptions.PermissionDeniedException: You do not have the required permissions to perform this operation."

    [#LC6897]

  • When you attempt to add virtual machines to a Citrix Provisioning Services catalog in Citrix Studio, the following error message might appear:

"The machine "virtual machine name” is already in a Machine Catalog."

    [#LC6944]

  • Attempts to run a PowerShell script might fail due to missing parameters.

    [#LC6953]

  • When upgrading a XenApp Site, the license model might change from XenApp to XenDesktop unexpectedly.

  • The "Start-Transcript" command might fail for "Get-XDSite" and other XenDesktop high level administrative PoSH commands when run in PowerShell 5.

    [#LC7006]

  • This fix addresses a memory issue in Citrix Host Service.

    [#LC7516]

HDX MediaStream Flash Redirection

  • With compatibility view enabled in Microsoft Internet Explorer, certain third-party websites with Flash content might not work.

    [#LC7513]

VDA for Desktop OS

HDX MediaStream Flash Redirection

  • With compatibility view enabled in Microsoft Internet Explorer, certain third-party websites with Flash content might not work.

    [#LC7513]

Keyboard

  • With HDX 3D Pro enabled on a VDA, the keyboard shortcuts "Alt+p" and "Alt+s" might not work.

    [#LC6826]

Printing

  • Printer redirection might fail intermittently.

    [#LC5320]

  • When you attempt to print two copies or more of a document, only one copy might print. The issue occurs if "Use only printer model specific drivers" is configured in the Citrix policy "Universal print driver usage" and if "Enabled with no fallback to Windows' native remote printing" is configured in the Citrix policy "Universal Print Server enable."

    [#LC6023]

Security Issues

  • The server idle timer does not reset Citrix Receiver for iOS devices with the multi-touch feature enabled.

    [#LC6743]

  • End User Experience Monitoring (EUEM) might stop collecting metrics when the number of virtual channels exceeds 32. The issue occurs when EUEM uses a constant value of 32 for the maximum number of virtual channels supported, which causes an exception while creating counters. As a result, EUEM stops collecting metrics.

    [#LC6768]

  • With "Application Lingering" configured for the Delivery Group, published applications occasionally fail to appear when you reconnect to a session.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\icausbb\
    Parameters
    Name: DeviceInstanceIDOption
    Type: REG_MULTI_SZ
    Value: 0 (default value), 1, 2.

    • If "DeviceInstanceIDOption" is configured to "zero" (0 - default value), devices whose VID/PID pairs is configured to "UsingSerialNumberDevices" use the serial number as the instance id. Other devices use "serial_number+Bus_number+port_number" as the instance ID.
    • If "DeviceInstanceIDOption" is configured to "1," devices whose VID/PID pairs is configured to "UsingSerialNumberDevices" use "serial_number+Bus_number+port_number" as the instance ID. Other devices use the serial number as the instance ID.
    • If "DeviceInstanceIDOption" is configured to "2," all devices use the serial number as the instance ID.
    • All other values are invalid and treated as "zero."

    [#LC6212]

User Interface

  • With the "Automatic keyboard display" policy set to enabled and the "Launch touch-optimized desktop" policy set to prohibited, starting a published desktop from an iPad can cause the document viewer to display at 80%. When you close certain applications on the desktop, the document viewer can display at 100%.

    [#LC6460]

VDA for Server OS

Installing, Uninstalling, Upgrading

  • After upgrading from VDA 7.11 for Desktop OS to VDA 7.12 for Desktop OS, the following error message might appear while launching certain applications:

When you close certain applications on the desktop, the document viewer can display at 100%.

    [#LC6460]

Virtual Desktop Components - Other

  • The App-V application can be started only by a single user. Attempts by another user to start the same application on the same server might fail.

    [#LC6414]

  • App-V-sequenced applications might not be contained within the actual App-V package even if they are referenced by the package (InTarget=False.) As a result, the application launch does not apply to any dependent Connection Groups that are required for that application to function correctly.

    [#LC6534]

  • Attempts to launch App-V applications from a mapped drive might fail.

    [#LC6961]

Other fixed issues

  • The VDA installer always warns about failed connection to Controller, even when connection test is successful.

    [#DNA-17822]
  • If you are using MCS I/O Optimization for a catalog containing 32-bit Windows machines, configuring a RAM Cache greater than the default 256 MB can cause the OS to stop.

    [#DNA-35054]
  • If you enable the Citrix Personalization for App-V - VDA check box, the "Citrix AppDisk / Personal vDisk" components are automatically selected.

    [#DNA-29658]
  • If you install Studio (by itself) on a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 machine, the installation fails.

    [#DNA-34355]
  • Citrix Kerberos authentication (CtxAuth) does not work for VDAs installed on Windows Server 2016 machines that have the Microsoft KB3213986 updates.

    [#HDX-7402]
