Cloud Connector Standalone Citrix Secure Ticketing Authority (STA) service

If using on-premises Site aggregation with Citrix Workspace or using Citrix Gateway Service with StoreFront, Cloud Connectors handle Secure Ticket Authority (STA) traffic for your Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops site. The standalone STA service enables you to have more control over the delivery of STA tickets in your environment.

The standalone Citrix STA service is installed on every Cloud Connector in a Resource Location by default. The standalone STA service shifts STA ticketing from the Citrix Cloud ticketing service to the Cloud Connectors and standardizes ticketing operations across both normal and LHC modes. The standalone STA service reduces reliance on cloud services and reduces intermittent LHC events.

System requirements

If using on-premises StoreFront: Version 2311 or later
Delivery Controller: 2503 or later

Enable Standalone STA service

To enable the Standalone STA service, which enables the Citrix Gateway Service with on-prem Delivery Controllers and improves resiliency for on-prem site aggregation to the Citrix Workspace service, configure the following Registry Key:

On your Cloud Connectors, set the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Citrix\XaXdCloudProxyPersist\StandaloneStaServiceForced to 1.

Name: StandaloneStaServiceForced Type: DWORD Value: 1

Once the registry key is configured, restart the Citrix Remote Broker Provider Service for the change to take effect.

Important considerations

Configure on-premises StoreFront to use the FQDN of Cloud Connectors as STA servers. The on-premises NetScaler Gateway vServer must include the complete list of Cloud Connectors configured as STAs, matching those specified in StoreFront.
When you are using Citrix Workspace with an on-premises NetScaler Gateway vServer for ICA proxy: Configure NetScaler Gateways to use all Cloud Connectors as the STA servers.

Limitations

Dual STA ticket redemption is not supported for Citrix Workspace.
If DaaS is not configured in your cloud tenant, Configuration Syncs will not happen, and 517 errors will be logged in the event log.
